Hi Good Evening all. I am a new owner of a 2004 S60 V5 2.4 d saloon, i purchased it on Saturday. The key would not flip out of the fob so i purchased a new fob off Ebay, upon receipt i took the key out of the old fixing and placed it into the new one, only the front bit not the button bit that holds all the electronics and the buttons. i when up to my car, used the button to open the car, no problems, sat in the car put the key in ignition twisted the key, the blade came out of the holder and the battery fall onto the floor. The car would no start, the message came up Start prevented try again. tried several times to no avail. I got out of the car and tried locking and unlocking, same message , no start. I read on a forum that if i left the car after 5 hours the immobilizer would reset.tried when i came home no luck. Any ideas i presume it is the immobilizer, or is it something else?. Hope you all can help.

The plastic bit that the key blade hinges in has a transponder chip fitted into it,the car will not run without it.

Bit more info just be very careful not to damage it or your will be spending close to £220.
