Had a nice bright bulb and a slightly yellow ish one for a while.

The yellow one had decided to flicker and stop working.

Any ideas on replacement bulbs? With a link if possible, cheaper the better please.

I have a spare igniter, just incase but bulb is probably first port of call as it was yellow and new one / pair would make them match if it's not the old bulb.

Or if it's possible to cheaply slightly upgrade?

D2R 35w 4300k
I bought 2 x D2R 6000k off eBay two years ago for £17 delivered & they are still working. They are slightly bluer but the light is acceptable
Next time I need some I will go for the 4300k. Hids4u have go a good price at the moment if you don't want to take a chance with ebay

No I don't mind eBay, and it's only the school run car.

Thanks I'll look into it.

Why not get 5000k instead. Brighter and whiter than stock without the blue tinge and more light on the road than 6000k.
I have them on mine. My girlfriends TT has stock 4300k's and the difference is very noticeable. I'll post a photo....

See what I mean! :) Much brighter white and better light IMH. Certainly more noticeable than stock.

I also bought mine off eBay. About £18 delivered and got them over a year ago. Bargain! Who cares if they only last a year...cheaper than £100 ea from Volvo.

Here we go...I've used these before....

What sort of main beam bulb do I need, they are slightly yellow. I thought may as well get them all done with a white / blue light.
Any recommendations?

main beam uses the same bulb as dipped beam on the P2R.

That's what I thought and you know how lazy I am, I'm guessing it's the side lights then?

Def looks more yellow when main on, but bright white blue on dip.

So what's the centre light for? That only comes on with the main beam? I thought the outer light moved up and down with dipped main beam and the centre light is the main beam.

I'm guessing the centre light isn't xenon, which is why it's more yellow.

I was wondering what bulb is it, as I'll try and grab a white bulb for it.

But is it not the main beam bulb?

Main beam and dipped are separate bulbs. Main is halogen and dipped is HID. The dipped motors up when you put the main beam on and down when you turn main beam off.
I have these on my V70 and am tempted to convert the mains to HID

Thanks that's exactly what I thought and said earlier, hid moves up and down with main beam and the actual main beam is halogen.

I only queried as stribo said the main beam is the hid, i wasn't sure if it was different on his older model.

I have factory bi-zenons (HID's) on my D5, same as R but black inside not silver. I converted the main beam to aftermarket HID a few years back. More light than a football stadium BUT they are so bright you don't see the lights of oncoming traffic which is not good. When first flicking to full beam there is a second of not much difference as they warm up but on subsequent use they are instant on.

Sounds to me like your headlamp alignment is out of spec.
Two things to check...

1. The rear load level sensor. Make sure that it's not loose. They have been known to work loose and it throws the alignment out and makes the lights dip.
2. Have your headlamp alignment checked at Volvo.

You need H7 bulbs.
I recommend the latest Phillips bulbs...like these:

main beam uses the same bulb as dipped beam on the P2R.

No it doesn't. I think he means the 'main' beam - Halogen H7.

H7 mate.
