Please help i have recently changed the gearbox oil in my volvo v40 t4 year 2001 i am unsure how to now check the levels... can anyone tell me the procedure please does the engine have to be running? etc their is a hot and cold level on the dip stick but not sure of the procedure thanks..

It should have a yellow dipstick to check the level.

Make sure the car is on level gound,
let it settle after filling (10 mins or so),
pull the dipstick out & clean it,
put the dipstick back all in the way,
then pull it out and check the level....if the engine is cold look at the cold level/engine hot look at the hot (higher) level
