V70 oil change

Our V70 2.4 petrol has done about 6000 miles since the last engine oil and filter change which was about 16 months ago its running on 0/40 Mobil 1 with a Volvo filter ,should I change the oil and filter now or leave it a bit longer ?. I read the oil should be changed every year or 12,000 miles it,s not the cost just don't want to throw away good oil .

For high-mileage cars, do it every 5k or so. I do mine around 4k but then I abuse mine a bit :D

Lots of short trips , stop starts can allow petrol / water-Condensation to build up inside the engine and contaminate the oil.
There if theres no mayonnaise in the filler cap or dip stick then it's up to you what you do like you say,my last oil change was done with less than 500 mile on the oil due to getting Volvo to do its yearly service , but that's just me as the car doesn't get used very much.:)

You've answered your own question.....as you said, every 12 months or 12,000 miles. You won't gain anything by changing it sooner than 12 months unless you do in excess of 12k.
