Totaly new to the 850, what intervals are the timing belt changed?
Is self diagnosis on board and how do I pull the codes, do I need to take it a main dealer to have them read or can anyone do it.
I have spotted at the front of the engine bay a two small boxes with a cover inside various plugs is this the diagnosis.
I also keep getting flashing arrow on dash is this gearbox trouble? Seems to struggle to recognise park. Is there a seperate key to open glovebox, cause I can't get the thing open, to get to the heater fan that needs to be replaced as it doesn't blow, and on start up aircon and REC flash repeatably.

Depending on what year your 850 is will depending on the OBD I think its just the 1994's but cant be 100% Other than that its a take it to the dealer job to get the codes read (or a really good specialist)

Timing Belt should be changed at 80K

OBD port is located beneath the coin holder below the ash tray

No separate key for the glove box. Wouldn't mind betting that the latch mechanism has failed. Use search on Glove Box and threads should reveal all.

Flashing lights could indicate aircon problems. These also have codes that can be read. Do search on aircon and again there will be a lot of advice.

What colour is the auto trans fluid? Check it should be clear and red.

Get a Haynes it will help,

Unless it's a 92-93 car when it'll be every 50k?

Unless its a pre '96 MY when it'll have the OBD under the bonnet at the front of the vehicle on the left where you can read the codes via an LED blikner.

Need to know what year your car is.. later 850's don't have a diagnosis box under the bonnet (little thingy with a flashing LED in it)......

From the Manual...
The indicator lamp lights up when mode W is
selected or when position 3 or L have been
chosen............. If the inticator lamp
begins to flash, this is an indication of a fault
in the automatic transmission. Please contact
your main dealer in such an event. If the car
feels slegish when the indicator light is flash-
ing, place the gear selector into position L.

Common fault for the mechanism to break. Lots of people here have destroyed covers getting them open, but if you push the bottom of the dash upwards you'll see the bottom torX screws. undo these if you extremely resourcful. With a torch/wire and screwdriver you should be able to release the mechanism. I have posted this one before and I think I'm the only one who has done it this way and got away with it. It was very frustrating job but it saved me buying a new front. Which I think was about £70 for a new one.
The new catch comes as a set
Part number 6818303 - SP CATCH....£24.30... I'd probably get them to look it up though just to be safe..

Hope you get it sorted soon....!!!!
