Fuel Smell

I have just had the fuel pump changed (Thanks gezR -see previous thread) and ever since there is a strong petrol smell when I return to the car. I've removed the access cover and looked at the connections and re-tightened the large ring that holds the pump. The smell persists and to be honest it was dry there before I did all this so I don't think that's where the problem is.
Any Ideas?
