Check the manifold mate, it's an expensive fix if it's cracked.
I've had loads of experience of c20lets & z20lets.
They go well when done right.

I had a go in a 350bhp insignia Vxr the other day that a customer of mine has and wasn't really impressed. Looked good and the seats are lovely but handling was crap even with 4wd

Not thought of a large BMW diesel? 535d or such, if you go for the 530d you can still have a manual.

I do like my p2 sooo comfy, but I keep looking at diesels and not volvos.
It would have to be 250bhp plus, something like Mercs would be good.

Life's too short to be driving a diesel, though, if everyone drove diesels, life would be shorter still.

A few probs I'd see firstly a big diesel vag or BMW, not as reliable as you'd think.
I'd definitely crash it within a week, most likely sooner if it's wet.
Cost of repair, volvos are cheap to repair, I'd do some / most of it myself and could always find parts. Even the p2 aren't that bad and the 6 sp autos are extremely reliable.
Audi or BMW auto boxes would worry me.
But a a8 4.2 tdi or 535d would both be nice.
