help needed

hi guys just put new throttle cable on the R and noticed on the reel it connects to in the engine bay there's 2 channels it can go in now here's my problem the one I took off came out of the larger channel and the new one fits in the smaller channel its about 2 inch's to short for the bigger channel will it make any difference being in the smaller channel the cable I got from Volvo is for a auto but my cars a manual but Volvo don't list one for the manual so told me to try this one any ideas? cheers

I've run on the smaller wheel with no problems for years.

so that explains what we talking about the other day, there's 2 different cables and why Jimbob's car uses the smaller wheel is it was originally auto
