New to V50's

I have just picked up an '08 V50 2.0D R-design, it doesn't show MPG etc, I have searched past threads ect and there are lots of responses about Volvo can do it and it is very expensive, and some talk of 'smaller' independent garages being able to do it at a fraction of the price. Non of the threads really come to any conclusion or places.

So...

Does anyone on here know where (other than Volvo) I can get my MPG turned on?

If it's a software change they won't, I'm not sure how indys could do that either. Doesn't the software get downloaded from the Volvo network? I could be talking utter rubbish...

Yes it's a 'bit' in the carconfig stored on the CEM.

Does that mean I have to pay Volvo and no one else can do it on the cheap?
