Hi Everyone,
I am guilty of not introducing myself properly! If you want to know all about me, then I guess I will start with my obsession with cars. My last car was a Honda Prelude 2.2 VTEC, and I ended up using it as a track car. I wanted more power so I built a turbo kit, and spent 7 months building the new engine. If you want to be bored, click here to see how I did it!
http://www.xvq55.dial.pipex.com/turbo/turbo.html

My other car is a Jaguar XJS HE (V12 5.3 Litres) It takes the oil reserves of a 3rd world country to run the damn thing.

I managed to destroy the turbo and engine on the Honda so I looked for a replacement car that did have a turbo from standard, was reliable and quick. I knew the T5 was an excellent choice as anything larger than a brief case would not fit in either the Honda or the Jag. So 4 weeks ago after much searching I picked up my Green 1997 P Plate V70 T5. I absolutely adore the car. My mates all laughed at me , but the smirks were soon extinguished when we left the traffic lights.... Nearly ripping the Toyo Proxies of the rims!

Other details about me... Name is Andrew....obvious... 29 Years old, Just got Married, and live in Cheshire.

Hi Andrew!!! Glad you're happy with your new addition!!! Its a great feeling to wipe the smirks off peoples faces with your box on wheels!!! LOL

Is your V70 standard? Thought about doing a mods?

Welcome to the forum!

Mods is a dangerous area for me. After the way I spent about 12k beefing up my last car, and then spectacularly causing the engine to explode at 9000rpm @ 150mph at Oulton Park, my wife has told me that if I so much as look under the bonnet of the V70, she will put my snap on tools on ebay!

However having said that, I am now is secret stealth mode. I had a K&N replacement panel filter delivered to work, that was easy to fit without her knowledge.

Might be tempted to swap the turbo for the V70R turbo, which is a bit better, and then a sneeky bit of ECU remapping might not go a miss! But I may have to send her on an all paid for shopping trip to New York with her mother for 5 nights while I do that one!

What have you done to your car? Do you actually own an ex touring car? I have a scaletric version of that blue and white model!

I wish I did own an ex touring car!!!! But sadly no, I just like the pic!

LOL @ your stealth mode mods!!!

I have a 850 T5 saloon in red, nice set of titan alloys, R front bumper added and a nice ecu upgrade from volvo tuning to get 304 horses running around under my bonnet!!!

Pretty spectactular way to blow up your engine!!! :dgrin:

You may be insterested in coming to one of our meets! A whole heap of volvo's doing the 1/4 mile drag at Santa Pod is always a good way to spend a Sunday!!!

Hello Andrew!

You will be glad to know that you need not spend 12K to get the most out of your T5 - £2K will give you all that you need. Look after her well and she will love you back my friend (the V70 that is)

We are all of to my folks place in Blackpool for 2nd Oct - loads of fun to be had! and no-one will laugh at you for having a Volvo.

I trust I will run into you soon (not literally I hope)

Dave

Hi Lance
The T5 will paste the XJS up to about 100mph I would imagine. After that the Jag comes into its own. I had an escort cosworth race me on the M6, and after 110, the Jag had an immense amount of torque. by the time we hit 130, I was about 4 car lengths ahead, and I kept my foot buried till we hit 155mph..... because I could. When I backed off 2 huge flames protruded out of my JP Exhausts (Stainless) and lit the cats eyes up.... Such a good boy! Only bad news is, that when I let off the throttle, the back end went light, and one and a half tonnes of british pig iron felt unsettled to say the least! I now carry 2 bags of cement in the boot to combat the problem!!!!!

Justin

Lol, excellent idea. (cement bags)

:welcome:

I look forward to meeting you and the car soon

My old man had a hilman imp with sand bags in the front to keep the front wheels on the ground after he had it souped up, I used to keep a tool box in my skoda estelle which improved the handleing no end particularly in cross winds+ you would be daft not to venture out without tools in a £95 skod though.
