I'd like to bring my T5 back into line with more modern vehicles by getting 0-60 down to around 5.5 secs. What bhp would be required to do this, and what is the best / most economical way of doing it?

Good tyres, suspension etc... strut brace...

All things to think about if you're stuffing more ponies in there.

By a more modern car................

The 850 is a 90`s car and will never perform like a modern car, technology has moved on in leaps seens the 850 was manufactured.

My best 1/4 mile is 13.79 @109.5bhp with 400 bhp which interpolates out at 5.8 seconds 0-60. I think this will get better with practice and if I can iron out my current throttle issues (its ME7 not a manual throttle).

From experience and seeing other 1/4 times - 300 bhp will get you under 6 seconds.

Sorry Col but I wouldn't trust those online calculator as far as I could virtually throw them, as it says mine should be 4.2 seconds (based om 1450kg CSW, FWD Manual with 404bhp).

any calculation is only as good as the info you put into it, & as that one doesn't seem to ask for much it not going to give an overly accurate result.

As this one is based on multiple times at set distances it will also factory in human error & be individual to the car in question not just a generic formula LINK (https://app.box.com/s/dpc45bav4a6q9ohj2k8h)

Yes I did my own interpolation - confirmed with the Excel above (thanks for the link) - at 5.89 seconds.

I had it down in my own calc as 5.86 at 298 feet, because I mapped the whole 1/4 curve not just the 1st 4 points.

There isn't a massive difference
