How to tidy up/paint cam cover and inlet?

Looking for cost effective way to smarten up the cam cover and inlet, I've tried wire brushing in places, the inlet responses better to it but the can cover doesn't look any better, so with out taking it off what can i do to freshen it up but keeping a factory feel? Either silver or maybe black.

If you're going for black buy some of the Crackle finish paint,avoids any brush marks etc..

I have used crackle paint before on a previous car and liked the finish.. is it possible to paint it whilst on the car though?

Thanks, i like the look of that rocker cover in black, reminds me of the new engines in focus st with all the plastics.

Are there any plastic covers of newer models that could be made to fit?

i sone mine matte black as well as the inlet but it was all removed!! i reckon if your handing with masking tape you could do it in situe ;)

What did you use to get yours like that? That's exactly the finish I'm after, not mirror just clean and factory looking.

thats how you get a nice car looking nicer, time and effort. As you should know yours is really looking well, and time well spent :B_thumb:

I've never been bothered with bodywork and appearance but since starting this project I'm quickly realising how much work is required and the effort to keep it up!

I did that on my fiesta Zetec rocker cover. Takes hours of patience.
