Hii am new here and a T5 owner. I do have a problem though. My remote that operates the dentral locking and alarm has given up and i am loathe to pay Volvo's prices. is there anywhere I can buy another replacement cheaper of course. mine is a 97 model estate and the keyfob is the one with a large button at the top and a smaller button at the bottom? I was wondering if i could buy one of the generic ones that are advertised and would they work the locks and the alarm? i don't have the old one working so can't use one of the ones you program from the old one.

Ebay is a good source. Match up the pictures and bid away!

Thanks Goof, I did try that last week and just got pipped at the post. Have'nt seen one since. Just thought I would update you on it as I have bought one from the dealer and was pleasently surprised at the price. £51 inc Very Awful Tax. The one on e-bay went for £39 second hand so I suppose I did the right thing. Thanks for the help anyway.

Hi,
You sure it's the key fob? :shifty: I have a 96 T5 and it let me down by not letting me in at 11:00 one night outside the pub
Eventually got it running, but the fob still does the "blip" bit, but it is the alarm on the car that has gone belly up....
When you press the "big" button does the fob still chirp?
Just a thought.... :)

Hi
I have an 850 R and I too have problems. My keyfob has battery power, and makes the blip sound but no alarm and remote central locking. key works still. It just happenned last night when I tried to lock the car. any ideas out there ? It is bloody annoying, and I do not like leaving the old girl without the alarm on.

Mine doesn't blip ('95 T5), but alarm does work - Mrs Goof proved it by unlocking it with key and trying to start up...

If I unlock the car with the key, and turn the ignition, it just looks at me in complete silence - and tumbleweeds roll past. No alarm, no life. I gotta press the fob to get electrics. My car is mute :-(((((
