hi all
i have a c70 t5 coupe, since last week, there has been a strange sound coming from the engine bay. the sound is like a clicking flapping noise, seems to get quicker as the engine revs. from idle with no gears engaged there is no noice. 1st gear gets a little noise, with 2nd 3rd and 4th gear, the noise is very evidently there. 5th gear gets no noice. the noice seems to happen around 1500 - 3500 rpm. above that i think the engine noise just drowns it out.

when the engine is cold, you hear less of the noise. recently, the noise is getting louder, it seems to come from the left side of the engine bay and sometimes from under the bay.

ive had it checked at couple of garages, most were mystified by it, some suggested that the transmission is damaged and there is some loose bits banging about.

has anyone experienced anything similar. im on around 70 K miles and its a manual. rhd as well.
hope to hear from u all...

:wtf: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

What a load of bol#cks!!
Some garages will really try it on...knowing full well a new gearbox aint cheap for a volvo. In my 16 years in the trade that is the biggest load of shi#e statement i have ever heard. :thread:

Face it dude, know one on this forum can accurately diagnose your problem..IE we cant hear it!!!! :slap:

Go to a volvo specialist or bite the bullet and go to main stealer, at least you will get a proper diagnosis........LOL (unbelievable) :rolling_e
p.s GOOD LUCK - HOPE ITS NOT SERIOUS :)

Oh yeah :wave23d: Welcome to the Forum!

Magic wands don't exist for noises as explained in a previous post, one man's click is another's knock, but it might be worth checking your auxillary belt/tensioner, the one that drives the aircon (if fitted)/powersteering pump/alternator.

:welcome:

You'll have to forgive Lee's "enthusiasm" - but he is correct in so much it will be very hard to tell without seeing it first hand.
It could be a whole raft of things like wheel bearings, cv joints, tensioners and so on and so forth.

Where abouts in the world are you friend? We should at least be able to point you in the right direction.
