Well as I'm still Volvoless and in search of a nice 850 or V70 T5 or R i thought I'd start a little thread with the current daily runner.

Bought early this year to replace my 08 Plate Titanium X Sport Mondeo (after the constabulary crashed into it!) I present my Face Lift MK2 Octavia vRS TDi CR.

The history...

Its had one owner from new, it was an ex fleet car with Tarmac and the previous owner on the V5 is the leasing company GE Capital. It came with full Skoda Main dealer service history and was generally in pretty good nick.

Although the range topping vRS it was the poverty speck model which came without auto wipers and dimming rear mirror and also minus the satnav unit.

Not long after purchase it was straight off with the alloy to go off to a professional refurber as they were in a right old state. Before hand I popped on four new Eagle F1's.

It didnt look so good with the "needs must" alloys whilst the correct Neptunes were gone.

Worst of the kerb marks:

Back from the paint shop:

Next modification was to replace the Standard "Bolero" stereo with an upgraded "Columbus" unit which features DVD player and Sat Nav.

After a quick wash and polish this is now it sits now:

Any future plans? Well yes just one, fit a set of silver roof bars as on the model below...

How does it drive compared to any Volvo I've had I hear you ask?

Well I have to say compared with any 850 P1 or P2 70 series I've driven this thing is glued to the road, a real pleasure to drive and just keeps gripping. Top that with comfort and decent economy of around 50mpg its a bloody good drive. Its currently standard but a map takes them to around 205-210bhp which would certainly give it some poke.

So everyday drive ability if afraid to say this beats any Volvo I've driven for a while, purely on the basis of effortless point and drive. It does however suffer the VAG dullness though.

For character, long range comfort and grin factor though it will never rival a decent Volvo T5!

No Volvo but not a bad compromise!

The only thing I know about these cars great drive, the scout ones really nice, but keep a close eye on the oil changes as they can sludge up the engine,if to many miles before changes.
My local ambulance service use them for RRV's and they don't hang around.

Yeah we've moved to the 4x4 Scouts now and they are slowly being phased in. Brilliant drive on the 4x4's even with half a ton in the back.

This ones on variable servicing at the moment so 18,000 or 2 years but I believe they have an oil quality sensor and the computer calculates depending on quality and driving style (eg town or motorway) as to if the intervals need to be reduced.

No exactly nothing really to play with! Really keen to get arm deep into a Volvo engine bay again as working on Pete's car for him has given me the bug again...

Wheels are immaculate mate, they really let the car down and now they do it justice. I've never kerbed an alloy and to see they how they were just wound me up every-time. Embarrassed to the point where I didn't wash it so you couldn't see them! :hidesbehi

Just ask your workshops how long a set of tyres last on a scout when loaded up approx 5-6k miles ! ,when it's driven like you stole it.

I know exactly what you mean! Hate seeing Kerb'd alloys... Wheels certainly can make or break a car

That's correct, the car monitors the oil quality and calculates it's service intervals on how quickly it degrades. Naturally it degrades quicker with shorter runs.

I nearly bought a modified mk2 petrol VRs running 265 bhp but my insurance company didn't do skodas when my S4 got written off so I went Volvo V50 T5. I think you should try one :-)
