Can A ME7 fuel rail be used on a 850 ?

As I`m looking to log fuel pressure.

You'll want a facelift or R rail Rob, the standard ME7/early ME7.1 rails don't have a sensor.

There may be a bit of extra pipework too.

I`ll be fitting my own pressure sensor so just need one without the valve on the end of the rail.

what type of fitment do you need? do you know you can "unscrew" the internals of the schrader valve so its just a port?

For my nitrous I used a tool to remove the middle out of the Schrader valve, and an adaptor to fit a compression fitting for some nylon tube

The sensor I`ll be using has a 1/4 BSP male thread.

I meant to add: maybe can use this^^^ to hook up to a pressure sensor?

Tool is below

edit:

cheaper one :)

Early ME7 rails have a port for a mechanical fpr between the 2nd and 3rd injector. You might be able to tap a thread in that.

Just googled ME7 fuel rail and the R fuel rail has a bolt on pressure sensor so if I remove it and make a plate up to mount my 1/4bsp sensor.

Pictures not great but, i removed the core and ran a small bit of fuel line to my 1/8 fuel pressure gauge

I think you might have a boost leak there, Mike

The early V70 T5 1997 such as mine has a tapped hole in the fuel rail which takes what Volvo call an Absorber it is actually absorbs any fuel pump pulses so that they are smoothed out ready for fuel injection.

The FPR is down above the steering rack (off side) on the chassis whereas the FPR (Not screwed in) on the 850 is as you know on the rail in the same position as the screwed in Absorber on the early V70.

1999 - 2002 ME7 there is No, what they call pressure sensor but from 2003 there is!!!..........it seems as though through the years each model just needed different applications for progress etc.!

The early Motronic 4.4 does swing between FRP or screwed in Absorber on the rail so you don`t necessarily need an ME7 one.........entirely depends what your doing with it.......also there are different part numbers for rails with non return to tank and with return to tank!!

Hope it helps?

Mine doesn't have a sensor on the rail ;)

I mite have to "customize" a 850 fuel rail :)

If you want to go further ...it depends on engine number :wow:

It's a crossover, it has the BPS on the intercooler instead of the throttle pipe too ;)
