Hi guys finally got all errors codes off my car been off for a week was going up motorway other day and boom urgent transmission service required message came up and car got stuck in gear i think it was 4th had a friend plug car into his snap on device and he said the code is tcm-002c i know what the code means, " TCM-002C 5th gear. Incorrect gear ratio" could some tell me if the tranny is dead or is this a fixable problem any help would be great oh its a v70 T5 on a 2001 plate.
Gearbox seams to stay in that gear even when pulling away however once it's been turned off for a while will go through the gear all be it very ruff.
many thanx

Does the car history's list gearbox oil change ever ?.

Not very good news this fault what age is the car and what miles are on it,up to 2005 year cars their is a gearbox oil level dipstick might be worth a look to see what colour the transmission fluid is,also if it smells burnt.
It should be red in colour but if it's jet black looks like it hasn't been changed so bad news.

What as in water clear. Oil cooler in rad may have split causing water to get in. What's the expansion tank like?

Just to doublecheck it is gearbox dipstick that you are looking at,oil level tested with the engine running ?.
