Here we go again, for some reason the car is playing games with me when i floor it
some days it gives me awesome turbo power then others (more often than not) it feels like im either running of no turbo or its taking forever to spool up
please someone tell me this is an easy fix and that someone has had this issue and solved it
and before you say it the car has be run through a volvo computer and my brand spanking snap on Modis Ultra and gave no codes :(

Dodgy BCS possibly? Have you got a boost gauge to see how much boost its actually running?

Could be the actuator sticking open.

When thinking about it, i only ever had one problem with my s70r and it sounds like a similar issue, and i'm sure that was the actuator. May as well start with that, as it won't cost anything to check.

no boost gauge but your both going down same route i was thinking with the actuator
will check tomorrow and report back
also can they be freed easy or will i need new?

Should be able to fix it, the hardest bit will probably be just getting the heat shield off lol

never anything bloody simple lol

If it's sticking, it's easily sorted with dw40 and some wiggling.

See if the actuator is easy to move by hand.

dw-40 ?

dw-40 ?

Yep. It's the spigot that connects the wastegate arm to the wastegate inside the turbo that sticks. Plenty of wd40 or plusgas to free it.

If you've not got any dw-40 then you can use wd-40, it works just as well ;)

If the heatshield hasn't been off before then you'll probably need plenty of wd-40, leave it overnight and put some more on.

was the dw 40 bit matey lol

Wd-40ed the crap out of it and can only move it about 3 to 4 mm back and forth :(

Have you taken the actuator arm off the lever? (I'm guessing you have) you should have about 90 degrees of movement - if not, a small hammer and more WD40 (or DW40 if you like ;) )

Going down garage in bit and taking whole bloody lot off and doing on bench instead of on car

WD-42 is unpredictable but is made specifically to work on C70s

Actually you'll be better off with one of these...

to check that the actuator is set up properly and has full movement.

Decided gonna just swap turbos by end of the week just need to find a cheap one for now as I need a fuel filter oil cooler and lambda sensor too
Bloody joys of motoring
Cheer Dave Liam and Martin for advice :)

That's a vacuum pump Dave...

Don't actuators work via positive pressure ?

They do mate, judging by the description, Dave's been using it for something else. ;)

Would like to no how you have got on as my pre me7 c70 suffers the same fate.i have already renewed actuator and tcv .still radomley has its moments. I am thinking posible waste gate housing cracked !the turbo over speeding ?

Reminds me of a particular person testing someone's actuator with one of those things, making something like "15psi" and wondering why it wouldn't open...

And no, it wasn't me but it is the reason I made the test rig.

I have had the same problem took the plug off my maf sensor and it flies in first gear.

But as soon as you go into higher gears the boost does drop I also seem to get my boost gauge vibrating, my plan is to just drop a 16t into it and see if this cures it but for the mean time it's fine with the maf plugged in after An ecu reset.

My actuator seemed to open about 5psi I thought that was a bit weak.

Can anyone clarify

Is that 5psi on the gauge or 5psi at the actuator? if it's at the actuator, that's about right and the bcs will deal with the rest.
