Where do you get your car serviced?

Mine is due for its first in my ownership soon.

60k service and cambelt (i think is required at 60K?). I have been quoted £207 for the service and £288 for cambelt at Ferndown main dealer, with 10% VOC P&L discount. Is this fair? Should i be going somwhere else?

mmmm Interesting Question....

3/4 years ago, used Volvo at Towerpark - Service £300+
Next 2 services - an Independent in Bristol whilst visiting in-laws. £200 ish.
Also used Country Cars in the New Forrest for brake work - had to have £500 work done after above independent said brakes were ok - don't know which, if who, may have conned me a little - maybe??! But brakes were 100% better after the work.
Last service - Hendy Ford behind Castlepoint - they had an offer on - £99 for full service - in my reckoning, that only just covered the parts!!
Not sure where I will take it next tho?
£200 seems good for Volvo Service - depends if major or minor - not too sure with S40's?? BTW VOC discount will be parts only (according to Volvo mag).

Cheers for the reply. Think i will look around a bit see if i can find some deals. Im sure i read its P&L discount at Ferndown, and they didn't question it on the phone, but I will check.

Could well be right with the discount - TBH I do have a memory like a sieve!
Car needs a new alternator - just ordered from Salvo and should be able to get it fitted tomorrow - fingers crossed.

I havn't got round to putting it in yet, my work mucked up my bonus and i have to wait untill i get it before i can, soon as i do, it will be going in. Fingers crossed for getting it next week!

I have checked and it is a 10% p&L discount for VOC members at Ferndown Volvo.

Because this is my first service for this car, i will be letting Volvo do it, but i will be on a look out for a good independent for all my others.
