Sunroof won't open

The sunroof on my 96 850 won't open I press the button and there's a clunking noise but that's it there's no movement what so ever is this a common problem and is there a solution

Have you tried giving it a helping hand, in case it's just stuck through lack of use?

As Stribo says, could be the seals are a little stuck around the edge of the sunroof, for full opening the panel needs to drop into the car and slide back so give it a little push to see if that works.

Other than that you can remove the motor and see if it is turning as it should, then move onto the sunroof mech.
