That's Shrek's old R.

I rebuilt the injectors and fitted new ignition and HIDs before the old engine went bang. He and Niles fitted a V70R engine. it was running between 280 and 300 bhp.

It could still be a later 2.4R engine, I have a 2.4 with a latter twin vvt head but still use a distributor., I would think with that turbo at 15psi, you would see around 280 bhp.

i will have a good look over it tomorrow, i planned on "borrowing" my new coilovers off my mk1 for a while anyway. starting to think the guy i boutght the car off was full of waste material. but we will see, also i didnt really think about it yesterday when i got it i went for a drive and it pulled real hard with no problems the i put regular 95ron in it and felt what i assume was a misfire on full boost so im basically driving it with no boost now to be safe until i put some higher octance fuel in it also i got told to drive it only in sport mode because it was mapped in that and it misfires when used in the normal gearbox mode? sounded a bit fishy to me but i was too excited to have my first turbo volvo actually on the road

Sorry to disappoint mate, but there is no way on this planet an 850 with an auto box is going to give that sort of power, it would be nice to see that dyno chart, as in the picture that was previously put up, the top was missing so we couldn't see the reg number of the car. I have 434bhp with a manual box and it is on the limit of what the clutch and box can handle.

there appear to be four different engine frames there, in one picture it has a metal looking frame, in another pic it has a shiny new red frame in another it has doweled liners and a blue frame and in the last pick it has a different one again.

EDIT: the block with the dowels has blue axle stands next to it, but I still think they are three different engines.

when dan swapped it the engine was not internally modified and the guy he swapped it with wanted ALL THE MODIFIED BITS took off before he would swap with the shogun........i know this for sure as most of the bits taken off are still in my workshop...............the bonnet was in primer when swapped as well ( but it had been bare metaled and etch primed underneath )

as you would expect all the pictures i have of the dyno prints have no reg only a name one ahmed el-sayed. i didnt really think that much power would be possible with the auto box but it was a nice dream. if anyone knows of him... i will check the turbo tomorrow and if it is what it says it is i will take a picture. its a good job im easily pleased with a bit of turbo flutter otherwise i think i may be crying inside around now. although the car i swapped it for was mostly a shed in my eyes im only into this for around 1k and i have seen a few things it defiantly has an aftermarket turbo actuator on it and a few other nice bits

i'll check with dan but sure it was a 16t that was fitted..................it developed a slight misfire the day he swapped but it cured itself on the drive to the swap ( amazing what a good thrashing will cure.............haha )
i know dan did a complete gearbox flush as the box was lazy when he got it...............after the flush it was VERY responsive and one of the most aggressive auto's i've known.............by aggressive i mean it took up drive INSTANTLY and changed INSTANTLY..............

only to around 15psi with normal fuel in it misses as soon as it gets past 10 psi, i didnt quite understand how it had been mapped with a "live custom map by AES" as these cars are tuned with chips are they not? unless it has a turbo tuner ecu? which it does not. there is no manual boost controller in line with the standard boost control solenoid but it does have a different actuator. im starting to think it hasnt been mapped and just had the boost upped with the aftermarket actuator?

Dan had a forge actuator on it so that probably explains one thing. It also used to flutter like mad as a result of the stupidly loud dump valve it had fitted. If there's no dump valve on it now, its gonna flutter like a mo-fo!

thanks the flying brick i think tbh i will be happy if thats all i find! atleast then i know its fairly safe to not worry about now, i would much rather start with a standard car and go through it properly and make sure everything is a stage 0 and as unstressed as possible. and i swapped the car for my tatty n/a skyline that would have cost more to insure than a gtr but thats besides the point it was some guy from port talbot, owner of dragon modified? but he hadn't had the car long

I hate to be a pessimist but there's no way on gods earth that this car is the power claimed and even if it was close the gearbox would have gone south well before the claimed figure considering it's not running at the very least an upgraded cooler

when shrek had it,it was a darling motor and still is and your right as long as the new owner is happy that's all that counts, its just annoying when people try to sell something that's not honest!! my dad bought hes as it was advertised as 294 bhp but when he got it it was bog standard but at some stage in its life it was as it came with a dyno printout backing the claim, but he was happy with the purchase so all was good but it still makes me laugh when people assume everyone is an idiot so claim ridiculous figures and palm off some randome pictures as "proof" the work was done!!

Of course, its not right when people try to fool someone into believing that the car is something that its not but as the cars new owner was skeptical of the claims anyway and didn't pay much for it, its not turned out that bad. I do wonder if the seller tries it on with every car they sell though.

thanks guys, it wont be for a while as i don't get payed for some time :) i fitted my coilovers today they have been stood for a year and are a little squeaky i hope that passes as they were only used for a month before i blew my other car. the difference is amazing although it is a little scary when it comes on boost round a corner with the auto box but im very happy with the car i will do my best to bring her back to its former glory in the next few months ready for the RR gathering.

so with the pictures;

http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q181/sundog_ses/Mobile%20Uploads/AC86C374-277A-4EC7-BDDA-64ADC4E6DD4B.jpg (http://s136.photobucket.com/user/sundog_ses/media/Mobile%20Uploads/AC86C374-277A-4EC7-BDDA-64ADC4E6DD4B.jpg.html)

thanks guys the wheels are kind of love or hate my mate loves them i'm not so keen but i only have what paint is laying around my garage to play with.

i'm starting to feel skeptical it even has a remap at all, i ran the fuel as low as i dare (it wasn't registering on the gauge) put some super unleaded in it, ran that through for a while and its still missing all over the place at around 15psi, it even spiked a couple of times and hit fuel cut i did see the gauge go up to maybe past 20psi on one spike. im assuming its harder to diagnose being auto, and not being able to hold it at a continuous load site, i really should just drive it around for a while until i can stage zero it but this new boost game is addictive, i know the car was running as probably mapped with a rip kit but it no longer has that would that make too much of a difference? i;m pretty much rambling now its getting late, i will try some research tomorrow but this is why i like starting with standard cars :D

little update on the car for anyone that cares, it is now running great after i had to send my mother out 20 miles to the nearest shell station for some v-power and some fresh plugs :D i had never seen platinum plugs before only having n/a cars previous so i didn't quite grasp how well used the old plugs were until i had something to compare them to the tips were around a mill shorter and burnt to a point! managed to make it out to skeggness last night for a cruise and returned 27mpg which is better than i expected. although my friend following me said it puffs a little smoke out when laboring up hills, hopefully its the turbo and not the piston rings, i have a spare 16t

the only true thing in that post is the clutch as i fitted that the other week, gtr grill? no thats a standard one that has been cut down because the car had a front end smash, i straightened the inner wing. nismo wheels? "nismo stickers on cheap alloys" would be a better fit. why would you even bother fitting a bigger throttle body and higher fuel pressure on a standard 12 valve 2 litre that originally only made 130bhp and it runs like it makes half of that. just a heads up guys this guy is a king tuner in his head, i feel sorry for the next guy that has to deal with him.
