View Full Version : fitting 3" downpipe on 850 straight flange

When fitting a 3" straight flange is it normal to have to remove the gaurd that covers the power steering rack. If it wasnt for the studs it would go straight on

Yep had to remove it on mine and that was a bsr one, fresh in my mind as only a couple of weeks ago

thats good to hear. even removing the standard one was a nightmare. did you refit it once had the down pipe one. if it wasnt for the studs theyd be no need to remove that daft sheild

ill have a bit play tomora. im guessing its not a issue on angled down pipes, i know its not on the s60

Not just the 850s, had to remove the one on the S60R to get the downpipe on.

If you can I'd refit it, mines still there albeit it with a very small corner shaved :)

its not for my car andy. ive just built it for someone. i just wanted to ask the question to see if it was just me. im sure most people understand that when moding cars somtimes other things have to be fettled a bit but i want them so they easy to fit as possible with no cutting of parts if possible

That's because you have the inferior FWD T5,so no angle gearbox to get around.:P

IIRC on my T5 straight flange it was fitted back on and fettled,but on my R with the angled i binned it.
