Hi guys

Thought I would keep you lot up to date with what im doing to my V70R. it wont be as great as some of the projects i've read already but maybe one day when i have the spare cash i can do some major engine work.

I have now put my 855 T-5 off theroad as it is out of mot ad just wasnt worth spending the money on, as much as i loved it.

So I bought this little toy a couple weeks ago

it has just under 210,000 miles. is FWD automatic.
it was advertised as having a full stainless exhaust and decat, and a remap.
but only has a dumpvalve. even tho the standard recirc is not blanked off. lol

so im happier that it is standard. and i got it for £700 which i think is reasonable.

plans are to put all my stuff over from my engine bay of the 850
dump valve, recirc blanking plate, induction kit, strut brace, and samco hoses.
so the v70 will look more like this with it all fitted and a clean of course.

my 850 was chipped so im hoping to swap the chip over to the v70till i can afford a remap. what do you guys think??

and the more important part of theoject is when the better weather comes, do a manual conversion. cant wait for that as i find the auto quite boring to drive, would rather have more control of the gears when on a b road blast

A V70R for £700 is a bargain, looking forward to seeing this project progress

Yeah they came standard in most infact nearly all as far as I'm aware in 17" wheels (Comets).

I have to admit I've never seen a 16" version

£700! For a V70R!! Damn wish I'd waited a few years before I bought the 850.. Lol

16's were a no cost option for those who didn't want the "harsh" ride of the 17's... Quite a popular option in the US but not so in the UK...

so tonight i pulled my finger out and got my exhaust off of the 850. it is 2.5" made by custom crafts. instead of a normal decat it has effectively a centre box in its place. this cost the previous owner just under £600!

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b312/darzmat/Mobile%20Uploads/20140219_200029.jpg (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/darzmat/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140219_200029.jpg.html)

i knew the exhaust was blowing when it was on the 855 but assumed it was either the front or rear connection of the decat. but upon removal i found that the weld from pipe to box had gone, looks like it had previously been repaired with a mig welder.

(what it should look like (this is just pushed together))

and how it is just now
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b312/darzmat/Mobile%20Uploads/20140219_200046.jpg (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/darzmat/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140219_200046.jpg.html)

so i was absolutely delighted when i was chatting to my g/f's dad that he has a tig welder in his garage :) result!

also been looking about at wheels and these popped up, i think they would really suite the car

but im unsure as they are replica audi wheels, so i dont know if they would be appreciated on here lol

wont be getting decent wheels untill next year though as i want to get it mechanically sound and the body work touched up, front bumper resprayed etc.

I would throw that exhaust in the bin and start again if you dad has a tig welder, once you mig stainless it loses its ability to stay stainless.

Well I got it sorted as I cant afford a new exhaust at this moment it time. Cant wait to get it fitted. Going to miss the deafening pops and bangs though.

I think I mentioned in the start that the interior was miss matched. Originally it came with a cream half leather interior but the previous owner changed the dash and two front seats to dark grey but left the carpet, door cards and rear seats in cream. It really let the car down.

So on friday I did a 100 mile round trip to the scrappies to get new indicators. I had a look at at the interior but it was cloth. Just by chance we took a wander round and saw a v70 out with their boundry asked the guy and right enough it was getting stripped.

3 hours later and the interior was out. Full leather. Delighted!!

And a genuine volvo plastic boot liner

So the indicators, full interior, boot liner, full set of speakets and a parcel shelf for my mates clio set me back a total of £100
