Morning folks,

Just getting my car running after finally sorting the right inlet pipe (http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?54168-2-5T-Turbo-Inlet-Pipe) and I think I'm missing a trick with the vacuum hoses.

Coming off the front of inlet manifold, is a reasonable sized vacuum hose that links through a 1-way valve to some sort of device, bolted to the back of the radiator. (Left of centre on this picture).

There's a T split just before which I've looped back round for now on the end coming from the 'device' just to get it to run.

Obviously, it's hunting a bit as I reckon these shouldn't in fact be connected to each other.

I currently don't have anything connected to the turbo end of the cold feed pipe, I've blocked off the two bungs. Should one of these connect through to that pipe? And if so, where does the other bit go?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Sam

goes to the middle bubble in the manifold arrow point towards manifold. Then thres the T then there's another one above it which points and goes to the MAF to turbo pipe

Yes the large pipe should go from the T piece along the side of the engine to the back by the turbo. It connects to the maf-to-turbo pipe next to where the PCV connection is.

The pipe in the centre of this pic

just been to look at mine and as far as I can see it runs on down to the carbon filter mounted in the bottom of the front n/s wing, but there is no tee in mine, I'd blank the tee and make sure the pipe runs down to the carbon filter and connects there, the electronic valve on the line opens to suck hydrocarbons from the fuel system for emission control, but I can't remember whether it is in an open or closed state at idle, try it you've nothing to lose other than a few minutes of your time

but yours is me7 his pic is pre me7 as I see it and is on about the pipe going to the electronic valve bolted on the rad same thing on me7 but more connections, mine just comes from the mani, straight though the valve and done to the carbon filter, no tee or other piping

Here's a slight clarification (potentially):

I've deleted the carbon filter so if the T-piece runs to that, I will just block it off, and then connect the longer 1 way run to near the PCV on the MAF-Turbo pipe.

Clear as mud!

Ah ok, so I may have it the wrong way round, go from the T to the MAF-Turbo pipe, 1-way valve which way?

And then block the outlet to the carbon filter coming off just below the plug (in my picture). Below as in, pictorally below, not vertically below...

On mine I have 2 one way valve s. 1 is going toward the mani. Under it. u can't see it in pix. but arrow goes towards mani. The other one you can see by the T arrow points to turbo

If I have two valves pointing in opposite directions, what am I achieving by connecting them up?

As said earlier bud. One points to mani the other to turbo. To help keep even vac and prevent neg vac

Also the one way valves should be 7 mm one end 8 mm the other. So should the right way around....

Mine went in the bin...lol

I was just thinking the same, if he's done away with the carbon filter then he doesn't need the valve so should be able to blank the pipe at the manifold.

Well thanks for the help everyone, moved the bits around as described and it fired straight up with no hunting. Well chuffed, looks like I can get it on the road this weekend now!
