Can someone recommend a good valve compressor

As all the ones I`ve borrowed for a OHC head are not able to fit into the valve spring pockets.

I've got one with a moveable shank that is supposed to work for a large variety of engines. You can try it if you like, but I think it just came from Halfords.

I haven't used it on a Volvo engine yet.

I had the same one - many moons ago. I gave it away to a young mechanic working for HLM - who I thought would get more use out of it. Shame - he quit HLM to go fit tyres.

In my opinion also that Linky Halfords one was the same design as mine in the early `70`s for removing the valves in my Lotus engines.....but where on the end there is a cage like metal piece which pushes on the collet retainer, mine had a U shaped piece i had welded on so the collets can be got at easier sideways.

Ok, removing they fall out but on assembly more tricky so used a bit of grease on each collet so they stick while manouvering.
