hello i am a bit gutted as after replaceing my auto gearbox on my car, its not engageing gear again for more 10 seconds again, which exactly what was wrong with it b4.
When i first fitted the gearbox it drove excellently for a good 20 miles and then i parked it up then i went back to it a few days later and the same problem occurred,,,

The chances of 2 auto boxes have the same fault is rare,

Does the S60 have a auto ECU ? if so this could be the fault.

i was thinking that but the mechanic said he plugged his snap on diagnostic machine in and it came up with nothing...... do you know how many litres of atf it takes? someone told me it was eleven , but on the auto data app it saying 3 i am confused

I haven`t got a clue on the amount of oil it takes to fill a auto box,

But 3 doesn`t sound enough.

Have you had the gearbox codes looked at.
Did you use the correct fluid in the box,do you have the correct level in the box cold & when hot,is the oil cooler in the rad clear oil is flowing ok.
Try the cars fault code reader to see if there a code loged for the gear box

The box needs 9 liters or so have you checked the level with the dipstick at the front of the box ( its yellow).
The level is checked with the engine running after you have gone throught all the gears 10 sec in each gear twice engine ticking over.

According to the manual for my 2004 s60 2.0t auto, its 7.2 litres and makes no distinctions between engine variants.

Do you know what type of fluid you put in the box.

Correct stuff according to my manual is AW55-51, AW55-50 and the grade is JWS 3309.

Yep 3309 is correct but that's not a standard ATF that you get from most factors.

Is the fluid level OK? When you fitted the new box did you do an adaption? B4 servo been replaced? Software up to date?
I'm guessing it is 3rd gear

yes the fluid is all ok, even my friend at volvo mania had it on his computer and no code faults were found ..... i really cant spend another penny on it as i am already ready in the dog house ... so rather than lose altogether i rather get back some of my money.. thanks for your input anyway
