For canine reasons I am looking at selling my immaculate 47k s60 2.5T (2004) and buying an estate. I am looking at either a V70 T5 (which Ive driven plenty of, normally with a big green stripe down the side) but am also considering a v50 t5. Ive not driven a v50 and know no one who has one so I have no practical experience to fall back on. I notice they have less power than the v70 but then are probably a little lighter. My own car is on an 04 plate so I would aim for around 2700 ish maybe given market conditions? I don't want to add a great deal more to it, maybe up to £1k. I don't know if my pricing is right though to be honest. Its always the way that the car you are selling is never as desirable (read expensive) as the one you are buying. it seems the case on this occasion with a saloon vs an estate!

I would welcome anyones views on my decision and maybe giving me your impressions if you have driven both cars?

I have had both and the v50 is more economical and handles better the v70 is bigger slightly more comfortable but more a fast cruiser than a B road blaster. If you need the load space the 70 is better but if you enjoy driving the 50 is better in my opinion.

ive only drove a s40 diesel on a 2004. its a nice car but i feel cramped in the front but im 6ft 4" and i get that with most cars. the v50 will be nice car but the engines arnt as good. slightlyweaker than the 2.3/2.4t5. i considered the v50 fora while but as soon as i viewed one i wasnt impressed with boot space. i have two border collies and a hand bag dog and i felt it was to small for them

Cheers gents. I think my main concern is losing the big car feeling of solidity Ive enjoyed before and it feeling just like any other small/medium car. Although I do love the T5 engine so maybe not!

the s40 feels more solid then my 307 hdi but not as nice as the s60. if it was me id stick the the s60/v70.
