ok so I know this subject has been done to death but.........is it really worth sourcing some n/a cams (again) and what would the timing be? ive got the cams out of mine as we needed the cam cover for my dads (long story) and im reluctant to just put the standard cams back in,its not everyday ill have the cover off ;) so n/a cams? or is there another worthy but similar priced pair I could use?

I think n/a cams are supposed to make the engine rev higher,

Are you on about high-lift cams? If so, pretty sue ECU will learn wider openingtimes and auto-adjust. Volvo seems to have its own rules tho lol

intake cam should be retarded by 4 degrees, exhaust cam should be advanced by 5 degrees

I thought it was recommended 2 degrees on both cam shafts

claymore pointed me to one of these, quite easy to use and you cant really get it wrong
mine didn't come with instructions, so took a while to suss out, but it works. very usefull if you have to put the pulleys back on:)

Just to try and help?.....

I copy most info and save so this may help also look at the pic. for Volvo`s own chart of Cam Lifts on T engines they are more than you would think!!

You will have to use a conversion chart to compare the jargon!

Quote:
I think these are the numbers for hydraulic lifter heads.

T5
Intake:242 duration 7,95 lift
Exhaust:243.5 duration 7,95 lift

N/A
Intake:250 duration 8,45mm lift
Exhaust:252.6 duration 8,45mm lift

Piper
Intake: 248 duration 8,84mm lift
Exhaust:248 duration 7,87mm lift

As you can see, there is absolutely no point in spending £££ on Piper cams when the N/A cams give both a longer duration and higher lift.

Quote 2:

Cam timing is recommended to be set at -3 degrees intake and -2 degrees exhaust for stock cars. For cars with downpipe, catback, and intake or FMIC, set the exhaust cam to -3 degree.

For cars with N/A cams follow the above recommendations with the following changes; advance the exhaust cam 2 degrees and retard the intake cam 2 degrees.

From what I`ve read on that forum the normal setting for N/A cams is -2 intake and +2 exhaust

Hello, im wondering, is it possible that my NA cams are timed like stock (turbo) cams? I bought a car from my friend who upgraded turbo to NA cams and remaped car...but i just want to make sure they are good timed...
