Do any of you fine Ladies or Gentlemen know of an Independent in Kent who will do a clutch on a T5.(For less than the £500 quoted so far)
Bit of a judder on pulling away at 104,000k. Hmm.
Thanks

I personally take my car to SWAutos in Kent, and indeed had my clutch done there after I killed it at some traffic lights. :) Don't know of any other Volvo independents down there.

Thanks for that! £550 from SW...
Much as I love my T5's you have to question the cost of keeping them on the road these days...
I'm a bit disappointed that the clutch is going at 104k, especially since I do very, very, little town driving, towing or Doughnuts around the car park.
I'll do most things, like servicing, brakes, Cam belt changes & the like, but the Clutch looks like a nightmare for the DIY'er.
Thank you again.

Braydon in Hackney E8 seem reasonable at £425 + VAT and seem to know their stuff.
I'll let you know the outcome, & see if they're worth putting up as recommended.

Clutch looks like a nightmare for the DIY'er.
Thank you again.
It's a nightmare for a garage too, which is why you'll struggle to find one that will do the job cheap.

You can tell it's Friday. SW Autos have come up trumps with a £495 all inclusive.
I can't get better than that.
Cheers for the recommendations

Yes it is a hell of a job to do subframe off engine has to be tilted,
Not a DIY job, you won't go wrong using SW, just over 100k on a clutch hhhmm not much some go over 150k.

Who by & is it worth me driving to the ends of the earth to get it done?
Grovel, grovel.
Is it time to go home yet?

So true, but it's all downhill on the way back down South isn't it?
Cheers.

I paid 350-400 ish for mine including main rear oil seal at 143k the official time is 8rs although a well trained technition that knows these cars can do it in 6hrs.
Volvo charge around £7-800.
I know of one car in Notts thats done 229k on the original clutch, but 100k is not bad at all compared to many cars.

I have to disagree with the 'not a DIY job' i did mine myslef not to bad of a job,i can see how it costs £500 its time consuming.Easy to do though with the right stuff.Make sure that whoever does it replaces the rear main oil seal at the same time.I can also vouch for SW autos seen alot of Stuarts work and been to the garge alot.

Cheers for that.
You know the Haynes manual, (which always makes me laugh), gives it a 4 or 5 spanner rating, and having inspected the car from the underneath, I don't fancy it one bit.
Haynes always assumes you've got a pristine garage, with every concievable tool - not to mention a nice clean suit with a white shirt to do it in - unlimited patience, and a missus that doesn't nag you spending all day Saturday under the car.
I envy you if you can manage all of that.
