Hey going to make a start on modding my s60 2.4t runs at 200bhp the car is totally standard atm,
Going to set a budget of 500 pm for buying things what would you recommend buying first? And why?

Cheers in advance :)

exhaust, cone filter remap.

I've started from the outside and worked my way to the remap..

i.e. sort the suspension (shocks, springs, bushes)
Brakes (bigger/better, dot 5.1 fluid)
stage zero tune up (all fluids, all filters, clean or replace injectors)
new hoses (upgrade boost hoses, Vac hoses, tcv,)
Then look at exhaust and downpipe
bigger turbo?

then get a custom map to suit all your mods.

Don't overlook the suspension and brakes, there's no point making it go fast if it can't put it down or get you round the twisties without climbing a tree!

Actually if he can get a custom map done then he can run less boost but still get good power due to the higher compression .

but if that was the case it would be cheaper and easier to buy a t5 in the first place.

But he hasn't got a t5 he wants to mod his lpt so yes you can run a bigger turbo and can still make good power .im not saying it's going to make the same power as a modded t5 but it can be done .i modded an lpt .

As smithy has said, you can run a K24 but you will also need to get green injectors and a custom remap. Alternatively you could run a 16T with white/blue injectors wind the boost up to 9.5psi and run standardish T5 power without a remap. Altho you would be better off getting a remap for the changes and maximum benefit.

I have run mine for over 2 years without a remap with no problems too speak off.

thing is hes always going to be chasing his tail. the money spent modding a lpt is going to be wasted and could be put into geting a t5 in the first place. the thing with the lpt is it feels very resonsive cause of the small turbo. hes going to loose that if he changes the turbo

Well how much difference does the turbo change make could I hit around 300 bhp with out changing the turbo through other mods such ad exhaust De cat intake etc? And remap Ofc?

cheaper option is to wap an 18/19t maybe

if you want 300 bhp youve got the wrong car. sell it and get a t5 befor you spend tomuch money and get wear youd be with a 1k t5.

once again the LPT gets a slagging on this site, always the bloody same.

The bloke is asking for USEFULL information not the ££££££ thats being posted.

Come on then smart arses whats the actual difference between a 2.4 T5 and a 2.4T apart from the smaller turbo???????

compression is biggest issue. the guy has only got 500 to spend anyway so i said cone filter and exhaust or a remap. sound and realitic advice if you ask me.

Yeah per month lol anyway think I might just get a few mods on then sell this next year and get an evo or something 4wd regardless I would plow more money in this if it was but as I say I want to do mods to this Purley because I can :)

You should be able to get 270/280 bhp depending on dyno of course .thats with a good map , exhaust and downpipe ,fmic and piping .this car is not all about bhp it's the torque they produce at very low revs that counts.as said the most pound for pound mod for the car is a good remap .i had a lpt and I wiped a second off my quater mile time with just a remap .

drivermad
Monday 21st October 2013, 21:21
If you are wondering why I don't get one sooner it's because I promised the other half I wouldn't change car and I'd keep this for 2 year but I should be able to knock that down to a year lol

Stick a hooge turbo on it, get it mapped & kick some Evo arse mate!
£500 a month will get you a right animal.
Plenty of brakes, suspension & tuning mods available for it.
I've had plenty of fast & tidy cars but my volvo has really got under my skin, the build, the engineering of the old girl & the fact modified volvos are pretty rare.

the difference between the two is night and day but im not going to do on about it. its not what the guy asked. if your looking to pick keyboard fight youve picked the wrong person as i couldnt give a toss agree disagree or whatever.

im calm i just saying i wont get into any keyboard warrior stuff. not my style lol. it all depends what the guys wants. ive had both the 2.4 lpt and of course the 2.4 t5 now. both good car but the lpt is a great crusier. the t5 is a weapon in disguise.

ffs, I go offline for an evening and the place goes to rat ££££

play nicely boys and girls, if the bloke wants to tune an lpt, I for one would like to see it.

I honestly can't see why not being a T5 means tuning a lesser engine should be banned. Being on the starlet forums, I've seen 550 bhp come from a 1.3 redblock and do a 9 second 1/4.

it may be harder but with a 500 quid a month budget, why not?

I've had a scoob mate, enjoyed the speed of it & managed a 13.9 at the pod in 2005 but it was just too loud & they started popping up everywhere & chavved up to death so I sold it after being stopped by the police every 2 minutes.
I can see your point keeping the mrs sweet but reckon you do enough it will make your year & you won't want rid of it.
Best bit of owning a Volvo? Peoples faces as you give them the bird as you fly past them. :)

I sold my Subaru wrx to go back to a Volvo. The Scooby was very fast and handled amazingly, far better then a T5 but it didn't have anything like the quality of the Volvo, the ride was very hard, dashboard terrible and could not better 22mpg however I drove it. My 2.5T S60 is nowhere near as quick of course but very comfy, seems to have more torque and most of all doesn't have the terrible image of the Scooby.
