Hi I just picked up a 940 lpt manual estate and want to go down MBC cone air filter and remove the back box. From what I have read on here that should get me to around the 200bhp which will be fantastic. I just wondering on how to install the boost gauge as I don`t have a factory gauge on the lpt . Anyone done this and where did they install it. Also which MPC should I go for I know the Forge Unos are recommended but is there anything else to try out. I had an old ebay MBC on my t5 and it seamed fine. Pictures coming up soon

I have also just stuck on my old hks mushroom filter from my 850 I drove off without connecting up the sensor and thought wow this is running rough then remembered stoped and reattached the sensor but I have now got the warning light come up on the dashboard. I guess it does not like the air filter.

smithy is the font of most knowledge on the 940 . i think you can fit the turbo off a hpt model as a straight fit , but he'll probably correct me .

you can take a vacuum feed for the guage off the 4mm pipe going to the recirc valve (triangle thing on side of turbo) in your last picture.

Looks tidy enough. one thing did catch my eye, is that a VTS badge on the back of it? That needs removing ASAP!

The boost controller goes between the turbo compressor pipe and the actuator same as 850 .the 940 turbo boost controller is a none adjustable preset actuator .the lpt has a weaker actuator than the hpt but use the same turbo mate .i would fit the mbc and turn her up to 10 psi and see how things are then but you can get them upto 13 psi before boost limit .

If you want to keep it cheap then a normal bleed valve will do the job nicely. You're aware of the Unos which is a good bit of kit and I sold one for peanuts a while ago so keep an eye on ebay and the forums.

An r spec mbc will do the job too and are cheap too.you can also put washers on the actuator bracket to tighten the actuator arm to put more pressure on the wastgate aswell as the mbc.the actuator on the 940 get weaker with age like any other turbo.

Looks like a nice smart tidy example, I've got a 940 LPT and have fitted a Forge bleed valve, think it cost around £20.00 new, the car now boosts and holds .8 bar and goes remarkably well for what it is, keeps modern hatches at bay with ease, boost gauge wise I've just got a cheap Tim's boost gauge and it's been plumbed in to the vac feed from the inlet manifold :)

ok got the kit and found out that the waist gate bracket was not connected so running no boost at all i`ve now put a bolt in and the car is going well already lots of woshing noises. Not sure of how to plum in the gauge though. where to feed it through the firewall. can it go through first picture. I have also noticed the is a clamp o one of the pipes going to the manifold and was wondering why. Thinking a previous owner might have deliberately disconnected the waist gate actuator to disable the turbo.228192282022821

The second pic is the idle control valve pipe and it seems that it has been clamped off for some reason.what rpm is the car idling at mate

where did my post go ????

that pipe is not from this car, it is from a 740 i think.

just buy a blanking plug for it from fleebay, and cut it back so it is neater . no harm in the outlet being there really .
whatever size the hose internal is - they are about £5 then loose the clamp - yey!

u can see the outlet on here - next to hose clip 25 .
the middle diagram with the outlet on is not relevent to your 940 lpt.
top setup is w/o a/c, bottom is with a/c

Thought that clamped pipe went to the idle control valve?

mystery to me but thats what it looks like in vida.
here is the b230fk idle valve hose , again that clamped on is unsuitable on the right.
clearly, the fk hose is longer to the iac, goes to a different position.

This is making more and more sense it does tick over slightly rough sometimes I was going to do the rotor arm and distributor cap going to anyway. So it needs a new icv no problem I can sort that.

guys thanks so much for this really putting yourselves out here much appreciated I will buy you all a pint tonight at the pub obviously you not be there to drink it so I`ll have to return you the favor and drink your pints don't want them to go to waist.
