Though I would start a thread for the "R" there are a number of jobs that need looking at.

1 Remove the detachable towbar & sockets.(then put it on the bay)
2 Fix the tail gate lock.(order up new loom just not worth messing around with it)
3 Reshape and paint the intercooler fins (free only time)
4 Fix the light scratches in paintwork (easy job looks like the clear coat only)
5 Fit sticker to tail gate glass.(on order)
6 Change indicators bulbs to Osram Diadem Chrome indicator bulbs (on order)
7 Change wheels over to my winters (free)
8 Fit Imiv iPod box & reverse camera kit.(free)
9 Fit canbus box of tricks.(free)
10 Fit TME exhaust from the S60.(free)
11 Fit Volvo tax disc holder.(on order)
12 Get nice new reg for it(not free :shockedbi)

That's most of the things I will get done over the next couple of months.

If that was all that was causing the issue why did you go spend a fortune on a new loom havery? I would have used heat shrink crimps for that.

It looked like it had been repaired before,I just like to do a repair once and get it right the harness was damaged in two places as it was loose inside the roof.

The last thing I would want is it catch fire as the rear screen heater is quite high current draw, all the wires are in there.

Hello there - pleased to see all the attention the car is getting - going to be a credit to you, Harvey!

That wiring is a mess in the boot, I know of one repair to the loom but not two. And I think I used insulating tape not duct tape! Good that you found the issue.

You will find a crimp connector or two around the Grom unit in the front too, it was a temporary fit that you will no doubt want to redo in time.

Martyn I still have the headlamp wiper arm here, I knew you'd bring it up :) and only fair, I will happily send it back up North (minus the cap that is on Harvey's car!)

Looking forward to seeing further progress!

The car had its codes read saturday morning and it was a long list of faults, fortunately most were to do with the rear door locking, rear lights from the harness fault so not too bad.

Had them reset but one came back straight away.

The one fault is with the on-call phone is the reserve battery is at 4% out of 100% so going to get one on order as i can't get the on-call set up for my details.

Al115

The PHM-0030 one was persistent through my ownership. It's the on-call back-up battery. Completely useless, so it was the one fault code I lived with!!! :)

I read the codes before I sold you the car and the only ones there were the PHM one, and the REM ones relating to the locking / loom.

It had a CCM fault back in June but that was the Air Quality Sensor.

Nice plates, btw! :)

The phone battery level is very low 4% so will replace it A.S.A.P.

The best way to use the car phone I our cars is to get a twin sim card tariff ,if the phone is on it uses the phone ,if off it sends the call to the car phone it costs a couple of pounds a month more but works well.both sim cards have the same number but only one can work at any time.

Had them reset but one came back straight away.

The one fault is with the on-call phone is the reserve battery is at 4% out of 100% so going to get one on order as i can't get the on-call set up for my details.

Well ordered a new battery and I can honestly say is the most expensive battery I have ever bought, pictures will follow.

Hi Harvey.
Great pictures (thanks) but I need to ask some things.
I too have the iMIV classic and I am due to get the Volvotech module.
Firstly, where does the Volvotech plug in? I'm really confused about this. Secondly, I see you have the camera for the iMIV. Did you buy it form iMIV.ca and if so, did the green plug come already pre built, so all you had to do was plug it in? Or, did you (like me) get a small bag of bits, consisting of green plug and metal wire terminals to make up the plug yourself?
How does the Volvotech module integrate with the iMIV mate?

Thanks,CFE canbus box comes with a splitter cable (if you order it I think you get to choose from 3 types of cable )and all you do is unplug the canbus plug from the sat nav DVD player plug the CFE lead into the sat nav DVD player then the cars canbus plug goes into the splitter cable it is very easy to do the hard bit was getting the planel off the side of the car and that is not to hard to do.
The imiv works fine with the CFE unit.

http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r499/harveysr/55FEF03A-2271-4EE8-9A94-823B602062EB-8801-00000F28CCAE8FEE.jpg

The lead in the left is the canbus lead with the green plugs ,the battery and short lead is used to power the box when prorgaming It,the lead rolled up is the USB lead.

The imiv box just plugs into the tv din socket that is on the back of the sat nav DVD player( note must be DVD no cd if I remember right.I have got the tv tuner in the car which I had to unplug as it's no good anymore because it's not free view box.

The camera I did get from imiv at the same time I got the kit ,but you do need to change the software on the imiv box as the screen will not come up when you select reverse gear until you do,also the screen picture is reversed until you cut the wire from the camera.
I have got it working but have not found a place to fit the camera that I am happy with you ,have seen the cameras that fit in the same place as the number plate lights but they won't work as they are NTSC not PAL units

I used the brass ones from my old IPD TCV. The plastic ones are rubbish. Thought they would snap when trying to push vac hose onto them.

Got them from here.

Just got home and had my HID slim kit waiting for me.
The kit is going into the fog lights which take H3 bulbs.

The colour of the bulbs are 4300K and are 35w bulbs the idea is to get them to match up with the headlights.

http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r499/harveysr/2014-04/468E4073-5F08-49DB-BEEC-6EEA07CC5FB9_zpsfanbftgh.jpg

I did order some better bulbs (the middle ones in the picture )which have a steel base and ceramic insulator and looking at them they match up perfectly with the filament of the standard bulb , as "R" has the projection type foglight lens.
The bulb bottom in the picture is what came with the kit and the insulator is just plastic and of poor quality.

So this is one more job to get done at some point soon ,I think I will fit them at the same time I repair the intercooler as it needs a repair done then a bit of paint on it.

I was quite surprised they all came one box sure it weights more than 25kgs .
They are the drilled ones that's the only ones Brembo offer they don't do slots for our cars and the price for the stock ones were almost the same.(I did have a look around could have got some from the states but that was just silly money even before shipping & tax).
I know the drilled ones do/can/will crack but I think I'll take the chance Seeing I do such high mileage.

The info with the valve does say take the car for a easy (light footed drive.) for 1/2-3/4 hour for the ECU to learn the way the valve works.

Well today rear disks & pads went on with new handbrake shoes, and a spring kit as well also fitted the manual adjusters which makes a big difference to set up very easy,
The car no longer rolls back when they handbrake is pulled on.

Also the little pig tail springs were beyond use trying to get the old discs off they got pulled out of shape.
Old shoes were at the end of there lift as the friction material was coming away.

http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r499/harveysr/2014-07/4F3B6FE1-A1F5-4E3D-B56E-0E32CD988CAF_zps5l2kstal.jpg

The new drilled disks look the part but did have to give the a coat of paint as they were very dark gray almost black.

Looks a real pain to change them :shockedbi

I have got a rattly n/s handbrake shoe assembly and it drives me mad. Have just bought some of those pig tail springs to try and tighten everything up.
Looking at the equaliser bar where the handbrake cable divides under the centre console, the left cable looks to have stretched. Oh joy............... You are right, looks like a pig of a job. Will be interested to see how you get on.

I'll be looking at my rear brakes, although they look new, I'll check the handbrake shoes just incase, I have seen these things separate and smash up the rear of the car. I think I have 2 spare rear uprights.

The main reason for service was to get the Software upgrade carried out, Talking to the tech that carried out the service he did find that it was due for a upgrade which took around five minutes to send it to the car.

I also asked for a price to replace the sump "O" rings which is around £130 + Vat not a bad price but they would need the car overnight to do that job.

Now have years Volvo road side cover as part of the service :)

Parts came to £117 labour £97.50 that's with there customer loyalty scheme.

The car I'm about to buy (a Sonic S60R) is a Kastner's car. Spoke to them about it before deciding to buy it and the service chap (sounded like an older local gent) reckoned it has been well maintained. Came onto your thread to say hello as I could see your car was a Sonic Blue, but you must be local to Exeter too?

No there is no sump gasket as such as it's comes in a tube liquid gasket That Volvo make specially for it.
The Sump has a number of O rings where it mates to the engine block & in the Sump pan pipework .
Over time they can brake down or just move and let air get suckered in or lose oil pressure.

Cheers ,I did look at the Osram range but there's are 90 mm diameter units , the R's need to be 70 mm to keep the stock look.
I still have a fair bit of work to do ,To get them looking the way I want them.

A couple of bits to fit.

This is a noise filter for the sat nav screen, when the cars engine is running there is a bit of interference in screen,it's a shame the unit is not wrapped in foam to stop any rattles under the dash, have got some foam tape on the way.

I've bought the same adaptor Harvey! How did you have your iMIV connected to play music, before you bought the BT adaptor?

I currently have the 30pin apple 5m from the iMIV to the front n/s dash. It then connects to a Brodit 'pass thru' iPhone cradle. I'm guessing, with the BT adaptor I can unplug the 30pin cable and hide it in the center console with the BT adaptor plugged in.
I'm going to try it today and test the functionality over my current hard wire setup.

I just changed the power steering fluid, seeing what came out of Lee car I thought it would be a good time to do it.

Looking in the hand book it says you need this fluid wss-m2c204-a2 which seems to be a Ford / Volvo only fluid ,did Google it but it didn't cross to anything that I could find.
Looks like 2006 year cars changed fluid type ?.

I suspect that the Ford fluid you list is an exact cross reference to Volvo's Pentosin or CHF11S. It's all the same stuff, just after 2005, when Ford sank their teeth in, Volvo were forced to look for an alternative fluid at Ford. I'm guessing the Ford stuff is also green?

I will have a look in my handbook and see what it lists.

Oh, and the fluid you removed was exactly the same rank colour mine was!

This is out of my handbook 2006 date on front cover.

I did call into a local factors and the guy said best get the right stuff after looking at a couple of bottles.
