Dammit! Every time I go and do something, someone comes along and does it properly!

Good work there mate but ffs, you need an extractor fan in there!

it was seeing mrp paint his bumper that got me thinking. theres one part im not happy with and im hoping one of the more experienced guys will help me with. im thinking. let it go off for 48 hrs. then 320 500 wet flat then it have i havnt got down to the base ill use 800 1200 then 2000 when buff it. its suposed to beto scratch lacquer so im guessing its going to be a realy hard paint to polish. if i do go down to base. ill dust over a few coats of base then scotchbrite the surrounding area and lacquer it again.

its the first pic that has the run in it. used extra fast hardner so hopfully can work with it tomora

I'm waiting for spring to do mine now, by march it will be just as bad if not worse if not baked.

I cant see the run in the first photo, must be the angle you took it at. I wouldnt go any courser than 1200's, not on laquer otherwise you'll either break straight through to the base coat/primer or leave scratches so deep you'll never get them out. If you're wanting to get rid of a run then get yourself some single sided razor blades, run one one way along some wet 1200's at an angle a couple of times if you then feel the back edge there will be a very slight burr in it. Put a slight bend on the side with the burr and use this to CAREFULLY scrape the paint on the run until it's flat. Make sure you wait at least a week for the paint to harden first though and go very, very slowly as it's a quick way to break through the paint if youre not used to it. Once you get it close you can flat the whole area with something finer on a block. If you've any questions gimme a shout.

i managed to smooth it out with a paint brush so its not to bad. but if you look wear the flash hit the bumper its to the left of there. ill come back to in a weeks time like you say. overall im happy with the finish except fot all the flts that had landed on top of it.

Aww now I can see it, that doesnt look overyl bad Graeme, you should be able to flat that out. If there are any relly low spots after you've flatted it just fill them with a little bit of thinned down laquer, once it'd dried for a few days and cut back again you wont be able to tell.

theres plenty of lacquer on. think i put 5 coats on. as i know ill have to flated in back due to the flyes landing on the surface. im wanting to paint the bonnet and wings but unsure if im upto that yet. keep telling my self if i mess if up then i can just flaten it off and pay some. nothing lost except a bit of paint.

I hate runs I really do, nothing bloody worse because you know that unless you're really, really lucky you're re painting that panel.

i know thats what ive been thinking. i knew i was getting carried away. i get it in my head that theres still paint left in the gun. i should use it all. if i dry of in the corner i might just leave it. its right at the bottom and if you dont know its there you wont notice. will see how much it annoys me
