I have bought some new turbo hoses for my '98 v70 R and they are a tight fit, so tight they are a bugger to get on, has anyone had this issue and if so please could you tell me how you managed to fit them in the end?!

Warm them up in some boiling water first, dry them off then fit them warm polyurethane is a lot more plyable when warm hot like any other rubber to be fair, would not use oil you really don't want the boost pipes sliping off under full load and oil perforates plastic rubber etc!!!

not being sarcastic mate, the breather system naturally deposits a small amount of oil in the inlet pipe which then gets distributed as a thin layer of oil inside the charge air pipes. if there's none at all in yours, you might want to have a look at your pcv system. unless you're running a separate catch tank?

I wouldnt use oil myself , diesels have a habit of the pipes popping off even when the clip is tight because of this.
wd or something that evaporates is best.

I know Ace Rimmer said it on Red Dwarf but it was also said by Gold member (because he was dutch).. He asked Austin powers if he wanted a Schmoke and a flapjack.

There's an idea - eat a load of bacon frazzles and run your greasy fingers round the inside of the pipes :)

Yes your right but only a small amount it should vapourise and get burnt off but if you have dirty oil that aint good for a start, everybody have different values of service. If your oil is dirty Change it best one I found for keeping clean is 10/40 semi not too expensive either. Hi performance= Clean oils etc . ohh and sorry I have no sense of humour

older engines like mine, with 205k, tend to blow more through the pcv and dump a bit more in the system.

I change my oil every 4-5k miles with 10/40 and I have a sense of humour, I rebuilt an ex plod ;)

My 850 used to have loads of oil in the intake piping and used to use quite a lot of oil.

I replaced the valve stem seals when I changed the headgasket and it stopped the oil usage/residue completely

....err yeah use hot water make make the piping a little more pliable....
