OK, so it's about time to think about modding the car and I'm thinking of going the GrahamV70 route with some practical mods.

Thinking of getting a RIP kit first, so......

1) Any recommendations on a good one
2) As the guys at the 'softies' meets NEED something to do besides eating square burgers and drinking is it viable to do it there?
3) Is there anything I should be thinking about before a RIP kit?
4) How many burgers/beers does this work out at? :D

Lol, should be an easy one for the softies meet mate ;)

If you're going for the Kit Graham has, PFV sell them. not cheap tho.

i always make my own, the only specialist part that needs any welding is a 19mm collar onto the pipe just before the throttle body. I'm guessing your ME7 so won't even need to bother with that

id say yes do it if you build your own. if not there better mods thatll give you more bang for your buck. 3" down pipe, cant back exhaust or a remap will all give you more than rip kit but not much more that a shinney rip kit.

I would build my own (and I have :) ) but not everyone can, so it`s up to each person to decide wether to build or buy a RIP kit

Building my own is not really an option now as our workshops at work have been closed in the name of progress apparently.

I suppose ebay is an option as the metal pipework is the important part, silicone hoses and clips are easily replaces if necessary.

The PFV one does look nice though :) Although it looks as if I couldn't get one before the next softies meet.

Oh and a remap is on the list too, just thought getting things like this done first might be the way to go?

best to get the supporting mods done before the remap I think (I've spent nearly 3 years doing just that lol)

No you haven't, you just keep dipping into your remap fund, so have to fit something else instead. :P

I know there is some debate about the value of fitting an induction kit, but is it a worthwhile option when fitting along with a RIP kit?

Was looking at this one : http://www.potn.co.uk/powertec-volvo-c70-23-turbo-03970905-sl1-performance-induction-kit-pt4604-exclusive-offer--free-cold-air-feed-worth-20_p1544498.htm

If you want serious bling and to spend that sort of money mate, go for the BSR Optiflow, it's only 20-30 quid more.

Otherwise, fit a quality cone filter and make a tidy install of it.

ME7 C70 T5 mate.

The car is a C70 T5 GT Convertible ME7 2004 with 44,000 miles and whilst the car is fast enough in standard form it does seem to have a slight lag when accelerating hard.

Having always had powerful cars, mainly BMW's, I enjoy hard and fast driving where practical so anything that will actually improve the pick up and acceleration as opposed to 'sounding nice but doing nothing useful'

At the moment I am trying to sort out which mods are worthwhile and a sensible order in which to implement them i.e. I don't want to fit something only to remove it later to fit something else.

A rip kit and a good maf to turbo pipe will aid spoolup a lot (like the DO88 kit on Graham's car which, with the Rica 310, makes it go like a bloody rocket!)

then there's upgrading down pipe and exhaust, bigger turbo (the Rica 310 map is for an 18T turbo but works on the 16t).

I made my own RIP kit for the C70 ME7, using 57mm universal kit and a pipe-beading machine to make new beads on the cut ends. I cut & shut the plastic pipe.

Pipe beader only does alloy pipes. I suspect it would do stainless but only with thin walls - I tried it on 2mm walls SS and it didn't do much.
