hello steve, you need to get the codes read for this as the 1 warning message covers the whole abs system basically. - it could be anything at this stage.

I had this come up on my p2 V70 D5 last year, after driving faster than normal due to rushing Home cos a guy was coming to look at buying the car!!

After driving 'normally' for a day or so, it went out on it's own accord and no messages were stored according to my Volvo indy.

I had this about 1 week after buying my 2003 V70 D5 - Turned out to be a corroded and snapped ABS ring on the N/S/F driveshaft giving a bad reading. It would only show up after about 10 minutes of steady motorway speeds. I could then go a couple of days of A-Roading without getting the error.

Other symptoms were the traction control cutting in and ABS kicking in if braking and turning at low speeds, albeit not hard enough to come close to locking a wheel. Don't know whats involved in changing the ring as the garage did it on warranty, think it took about 2 hours though.

Funilly enough I am getting these errors again, so it's likely that a sensor or ring has failed somewhere else - fortunatley 2 weeks after flying through it's MOT with 234K on the clock and a poorly engine!

Mine was the opposite of yours. When I drove Home quite rapidly, it was a bendy A road and the cornering at speed seemed to cause it to come on. However, after being back on the motorways a while, it went out and didn't reappear whilst I had the car.
