Anyone had any experience with these guys? (Good or Bad).

Need to get a dealer service (and warranty work), gave these guys a call as Stratstone Stockport (ex Evans Halshaw) couldn't give a monkeys. They seemed to make all the right noises, including being £100 cheaper than Stratstone.

yes

Used them a bit when i have too, usually get independant specialist to do work on my car.

generally ok but watch them as you may get someone who knows very little

eg when my car had misfire they couldnt find anything, i checked myself and it was a cracked insulation on a plug!!

I took plug back in and they said they hadn't checked this as I had mentioned that it had had new plugs recently!!

My car was supplied and serviced by them before i bought it and shipped it off to notts i have all the receipts for work that the previous owners had done and it all seems to be in order

Can`t vouch for them personally as i`ve never been myself but the condition and road worthiness of my car speaks volumes

Cheers

Just bought a replacement T5 down here in Swansea. The car came to my local dealer from Harratts of Sheffield. Car arrived within a couple of days and 3 days later I picked it up. Problem was that no V5 came with the vehicle, but dealer was informed by Harratts that it was in the post. Anyway as it never turned up the next day I tried to tax the car and was told that the reg no was blocked - turns out the car had a private number plate and the previous owner had released it without going through DVLA to re-register the old number.

Upshot is that 1 week later I am still waiting and the car is still in the drive (no tax) - If I had known I would have not accepted the car when I did.

So as far as I am concerned Harratts lied about the V5 being in the post and on the way to my dealer. I am told now that reregistration has been done and relevant paperwork has been sent to the previous owner, so he has to send it to Harratts and then they send it to my dealer and I get it from them.

Bought my T5R from Harratts Barnsley full Harratts service history one owner from new. The car is now sound but little problems never seemed to get sorted as the sales men said.
The first day of ownership ABS Tracs light came on!, One week to sort out had to wait 2 days for a courtesy car! one off the sensors needed replacing! still had to replace the ABS TRACS pump 6 mnths later!
After 3 weeks the tyres needed replacing the tracking was that far out it had reduced the inner wall to white mesh. There was a least 6mm tread on the rest off the tyre and was fine when I had orginally looked when purchasing the car. Not in warrenty, but would easily replace mine for a mere £250???. They also a month later had the car five times to find a fault. One spell was for 2 weeks without a car! They had diagnosed the fault as knackerd diff. When gong to replace the diff the wheel bearing collapsed on them. The F**king anyoing thing was had my local independent garage checked out car first before taking to Harratts and said it was the wheel bearing, I told the service manager and the mechanic of my findings, no joy, only thing was the car was still under warrenty although the wheel bearing wasn't. On one incident I had my car in for a fault, later to see it parading round Barnsley doing the joy boy loop three times. Whilst booking a day of work to get the problem sorted, took the three days, had to catch the 2 trains and a bus to get home 3hrs!!. They cost me a lot of stress, money and time. Also days off work. At one point I was offered another car of the forecort to repalce mine. The problem was they were no other T5Rs or Rs. All the T5 were too new and the attraction with the car was the FVSH, 1 owner from new and looked after!!!!!!!!!! yes you have got it by Harratts.

I don't want to take it in to Manchester as the service I've been getting so far has been shocking. They don't want to know about the car, or the problem I'm getting. They're more concerned in charging me money instead of looking at the issue under the warranty on the car.

As for independents, it's got a Volvo warranty which it wouldn't have after taking it to the indy.

I had a chat with Harratts yesterday who were a lot cheaper than the service in the local place, and were going to look at the Air-Con without charging me. I may be giving Rybrook a call later though.

My car was sourced through Harratts Barnsley. THey did a good job in finding me one, to the spec I was after, and the sales side were excellent. Admiitedly, sales and servicing are two separate departments, but on that side they were top notch.

First service it had, which was at a main dealers to keep up the Warranty, was by the Sheffield branch.. Bit pricey (£280) for what was. in effect, 6 litres of synthetic oil, a few filters and some copper grease, but pretty acceptable. Only caveat was, they reported some excessive movement on one side of the front suspension which they said was potentially a problem.

My local independent Volve specialist, near Worksop, took alook and said it was nothing of the sort, any movement being negligible and certainly not needing attention. You guessed it, the work wouldn't have been covered under warranty had Harratts spannered it..

Not really a moan, since I've had similar things from Ford and Subaru dealers.

Just got back from Rycroft. In all a good service done, at a decent price (for a dealer). They even managed to sort the air con problem, and are dealing with the warranty guys for me. Hopefully all sorted tomorrow.

Only downer on the day was being given the S40 1.6D. I can't decide whether or not it's the service or just getting back in to a quick car.

Good call TDS.

I've used Rybrook in Warrington, once for my Jag XJ6 as they own a dealership, service very good as expected and once also for my ex-police 854 T5 where I found the service on a par with what it'd like dealing with a gangsta whom you owe a lot of cash!

The parts chaps on the other hand couldn't help enough!!
