Blacky Holding back under WOT in top

As above my 855 t5 is holding back under wot one minute shes boosting 18psi then the boost dives down to 12psi and the car wont accelerate, feels like fuel starvation or a massive boost leak.

I had this a few weaks ago, and it would appear the vac line to the compressor housing from the bcs had blown off! i sucured this line back on and all seemed ok. till today, the vac line seems flimsy so im thinking could it be collapsing under Boost? causing the symptoms above?

Any ideas welcomed as i need to sort this asap as im to and from Great Ormond street next wk with my boy.

if the vac lines feel soft id replace them. see if can get somthing thats braided.

Disconnect the bcs and put mbc direct to turbo .problem solved.but leave bcs pluged in but don't connect vac lines and any to the intake pipe block off.

Thanks for the replies, the car does it with mbc fitted aswell, yes the vac lines feel very soft

Are you putting the mbc in line with the bcs

I read somewhere about replacing vac lines with braided rubber fuel hose rather than silicone no chance of it collapsing but you'll need to jubilee clip connections.

yeah i know mate think i jinxd it lol, fingers crossed fuel line tomorrow will sort it. Just had to replace the wiper motor and linkage tonight lol i noticed the wipers were a bit slow on the way home.

I had this with mine bout a month ago, running rubbish on boost, 2 of vac lines were like pap just changed the lot with new silicone ones cheap as chips off the bay,love easy fixes!!

Got any way of checking your AFRs mate? it'll help you work out if it's a fueling problem.

no buddy, if its no the vac lines, it could be the pump, i did take a look at the pump and the brown sock thing that covers the return was ripped? dont think that would cause this issue tho tbh. Maybe the pump but im not gona shell out another £80 on a pump on the hope its that. Tbh ive got so fed up working on volvo's ive lost the love, if i cash all the volvo stuff in i should clear around £3k.

the thing is merc you would not of lost the love if you always use Volvo genuine parts....others do the same to save money but then fork out twice plus the labour!

The Volvo pucker vac. line hose is £9 per metre and that is enough to buy......no problems at all....silicon sucks and so does the price!

Vac lines now replaced with proper stuff looking to be fuel pump, and should know be the end of the wk as i will be clocking up the miles as the fuel level gets lower im sure the problem will get worse. so will decide at the end of the week on what to do, as ive more important things ie My Son in hospital wednesday to worry about atm.

If the car is driving fine and only going wrong on boost then leave it till you have sorted things with your son and then have a look after .turn the boost down and just drive it as a daily normal runner mate.

Doubt it will help Gav but I noticed on my R that the solenoid going to the charcoal canister keeps sticking open, the one way valve in line with it is also now two way so it adds up to boost being lost to the charcoal canister ! Doubt it your problem but you never know.

Agree with smithy Gav, don't give up on it. It's a tidy motor, definitely up with the top 855's for looks & everyone comments good things bar you anyway. If you get £3k for it in bits what you gonna get to replace it? Something that could cost you another arm or leg & something that won't get you the oldskool cool or popping flames that your lad loves.
Use the car to take your mind off your other issues mate & keep your chin up. :)

Mate, I'm not sure what is going on with your son (dont want to say something out of place!) but your right, he is priority and if the car is working when driving normally I would not touch the car until everything is in a better place, sods law it'll break when you try to fix it! on the flip side having a little girl with CF I'm in and out of hospital a fair bit and there is nothing like a car to mess with to take my mind of the worries and stress of it all! fortunately I am in a position of having a daily driver but I hope you don't give up as she is a beauty!
