My car is booked in for a power run and AFR on sat, fancy a guess on power?

spec is:

850 T5 manual
19t compressor, straight outlet exhaust
De-cat
Custom cat back
generic remap @ 1.1 bar
white injectors
RamAir induction
2.5inch stainless rip
V power Nitro

I think that's it other than stage 0, I will be happy if it breaks 300 at the crank...

the car certainly feels alot faster than my last t5 (its been a while though) that had just over 280 bhp with a 15g but as you said its a bit hit and miss, will see on sat, what ever it is will be fine as it pulls like a train :)

I was thinking that - about wheel/crank hp.......if you tell them you are expecting around 300 hp won't they just add losses onto the whp they see to suit what you are expecting?? Or is it more scientific than that? I'm not trying to say they are doing something underhand I just mean dynos in general.

I've had this argument before and the an article about dynos that was put up by forum ages ago .a rollers measures whp first and then drag loses to get the crank/flywheel power .this is my own opinion witch I prefer .whp or fly it will be nice to see what he gets though .it just I prefer whp that's all and I will get shot down for it now lol.

not only can they do it that way by adjusting the loses, but i've also seen dyno operators that will quite happily get the original measurements out of process if the customer wants (ie using different gears for the runs etc)

mike 850
Saturday 10th August 2013, 15:13
I think easily but more than anything the map is restricting me, everything holds back till 4k and it only boosts to 16psi, if I get it to 18/19psi itll be there, I will confess this is the cheap ebay chip on a socket, the whole project has cost just under 1k including buying the car, taxing and Mot so I can't be too upset with the results so far. also the fan they used looked like a hair dryer, certainly didn't replicate 100mph wind, I have also started on a bigger intake system as the standard one looks tiny and restrictive, this is just my starting point and will definitely get this barge happily over 300.

T5frankie
Saturday 10th August 2013, 15:21

mine has a big intercooler, green injectors, 3.8 bar fuel reg, modified 19t to run extra boost, 3" downpipe, and running 19psi or more so those extra mods easy 30bhp

The way you are describing the map it sounds exactly like the one i have, hummm tempted to open up my ecu and have look. Personally i cant stand all this holding back till 4k malarky.

thats a lot of the rev range wasted. mine is boosting by 1500rpm and by 2500rpm its flying. frankie boost dosnt always make bhp

mike 850
Saturday 10th August 2013, 16:05
Yeah it is frustrating, as my peak power was over 6k then the limiter kicks in! I suppose its safer for my rods and once im in the power it stays there when changing gear so its not all bad

ill think you will find there is no wasted boost on my 19t at only 19psi, a standard 19t can run 22 psi efficiently, mine has been modified to run more

graemewelch
Saturday 10th August 2013, 16:09

Look forward to seeing your figures when you have the custom map mate. Any more progress on the lump planned now your back off your jollys?

With the regards to the eBay chip & mercs ecu I guess the power was further down the rev range it could be a bit lower but more useable on the road.

Do you mean where it says 221 uncorrected? I think that dyno is measuring in kw's, 221 kw is about 296bhp. So its converting the kw into bhp.

240whp is about right for the boost you are running and on some rollers your bhp will be about 265/270bhp.

I suppose every dyno is going to be different, certainly feels massively quicker than my 280 bhp(on a different dyno) previous 850, got a few more mods to do then get a custom map, I guess at 1.1 bar im not really taking full advantage of the turbo
