Hi
I have a Volvo 850R which needs a new steering rack replacement in the very near future.
But in the meantime I need to top it up with oil. Which Oil should I use, particularly one from
a non-specialists like Halfords. This is a temporary measure for a weekend trip to Cornwall.

Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance

Howard

If you're prepared to spend handrails prices you may as well get the proper stuff from a Volvo dealer.

if is is still red in there, you just need to buy ATF- auto trans fluid.

if you go to volvo they have replaced it with green now, and you have to flush the whole system.

i used some stop leak stuff on mine and it worked well for a couple of months then started leaking slightly again. if you are already sorting a new one this is a fair idea for a tempory fix. one small 600ml bottle sorted it for me. lucas oil make it, and alot of factors stock the product.

DEXRON 2 OR DEXRON 3 will both cover it.,
