D5 Dipstick Length

I have a 2003 V70 D5. I recently had the head snapped off the dipstick, so my local indie popped one from an 850 in just to plug the hole. When I came to buy a replacement recently it turns out that Volvo changed the length for my model year. With this changed dipstick length came a change in tube length. I'm reasonably sure mine is the original longer length. However I have no idea if the ebay dipstick I have purchased, apart from coming from a 2003 MY car, is the right length for my tube.

Can anyone with a 2003 D5 sick a tape measure on their dipstick an tell me the following lengths (measuring only the metal rod, not including the plastic bit):

Overall length
Length to max
Length to min

Mines a 2004 D5 - not sure if it's different - but my measurements are:

Overall Length(metal rod only): 477mm
Length to Max: 60mm
Length to Min: 30mm

I don't know, my engine's on it's way out!

Just checked the measurements of the replacement I have. It has a part number of 21439543 (compared to the number in the pictures above: 8699543

The measurements however seem to be the same. 477 rod length, 38(ish)mm to the min, 60mm to the max.

I don't think you can go wrong with the dispstick you have - at least when it's showing minimum you still have that 8mm until it's on it's 'true' minimum.

Common rectification on all D5 , some of them have a factory sticker to read different levels,and careful too much oil in a D5 = problem

Quick update.

My car is in for it's 234K Service tomorrow, so I wanted to make absolutley sure it had the correct dipstick fitted. Phoned Holdcroft in Stoke and got quoted £47 for Dipstick, Replacement Tube and Seal. Swapping out takes all of 10 minutes with a 10mm socket and a good tug.

Annoyingly, at some point in my vehicle's life, it's already had the mod done to it. When I got the old tube out and laid it side by side with the new one they are identical lengths, however they have different part numbers.

So, part number re-cap;

Dipstick tube:

As fitted to car (replaced some time after leaving the factory) - 30637374 - Googling this number results in lots of Russian pages.
Replacement (as per dealer computer) - 31251092

Dipstick:

The seal for the tube is part number 30637865

The part number for the tube (for anyone wanting to check before they part with cash) is stamped into the bracket next to the wiring loom which holds the top part of the tube stationary. Mine was pretty gunged up and needed cleaning up and a good angle with a torch to see.
