Can't imagine the cost is huge - but is there a lot of work involved with electrics/wiring?

Thanks

NEVER!! Really?

What about gearbox availability? Could you use any of the 850 boxes on a T5?

Thanks

I reckon he just ment buy any old manual 850, doesnt have to be a t5, 2.5 20v na would be fine ;)

Ahhhh of course, as a donor?!

I guess there isn't a lot more to it than pedal box and gearbox itself? Or does removing the auto box make the ECU throw a wobbly?

I've never been thrown anywhere (too fat)

A/T ECU is removed - Engine ECU cares not.

You ditch the auto ecu for the gearbox, and wire the starter inhibiter to fool it into thinking the car is in neutral. if you dont it wont start.
There is a thread on here somewhere of the conversion. It is a big job and i would certainly allow 3 days at least to do it.

I meant buy the whole car - I didn't even have to look that long...

When i did my conversion (with help from some 'special' people) i brought a donor manual T5 which was not MOT'd taxed, £300, i was told to buy the donor as it has everything i needed including the wiring that runs from ECU across front of engine. Its a pretty simple job, all i did was make tea and fetch lunch.

Although I didn't do the conversion myself, it's an awesome mod. Tbh, when I rebuilt my engine and had the lot out, it's looks pretty straight forward, with the only constraints being facilities and time. Best of luck if you decide to jump in!
