When I was new here I popped up the wiki info and got shot down in flames..!! funny now though, but back then someone did say they were going to the factory later that year and that they would find out how many olives where made, but they never got back with an answer, would still like to know how many where made in the 3 colours and estates or saloons, so if any one out there has some real figures, there are a few on here that really would love to know for sure.

Maybe the below site is where the Wikipedia info came from??

http://www.volvotips.com/index.php/850-2/t-5r-and-850r/

The original production planned 2.500 cars but the car was a big success so 5.500 T-5Rs (saloons and stationwagons) were produced: 1.975 of them were Cream Yellow, 500 were Dark Olive Pearl (green) and 3.025 T-5Rs were painted in Black Stone.

i want to take the windscreen and rear quater glass out but im dont fancy paying a glass man, how easy is it?

The top trim just slides out when then side trims are removed, but the glass is bonded in as far as I know, Immingham (Tony) is the one to ask as it's what he does, he knows all about the glass and trim fitments

The one in my T-5R was cr#p when in bought it, but after 7 years of ownership I need to change it as has a nasty crack down the passenger side and probably fail the mot on it this year, I had toyed with cutting the one out of the V70 donor I have here and attempting fitting that, it can't be that hard to do.

££££ing yellow, wasn't happy with the bonnet and boot I did think I was being too careful with hanging them vertically so got a fair bit of orange peel as I was trying to avoid runs.
So while I was pi$$ed off of stripping the doors down I thought lets crack on and sort bonnet and boot prepped it all back up but this time decided to try some panel degreaser I got given got a absolutely great finish but its got loads of fish eyes and I mean loads at least they didn't have orange peel just bloody loads of fish eyes so got to do it all again.
Needless to say the panel wipe got a good beating then in the bin and off to sulk I blame Jimbob for distracting me.
Roll on tomorrow

sorry to hear that Pete, it will all be good in the end, it's a real pita when spraying doesn't go the way you want it to, as all you can do is let it dry, prep it again and start again......frustrating I know

can see that all the way through this thread, high build standard and no compromises, hope I can do the same when I get around to doing mine, this car will be stunning no doubt, but when you look back and see what you started with, most would have broken it and binned the rest, this was one lucky car to find it's way to you

Can't wait to see the results of your efforts and how high the bar is set, not that I think my one will be going that far for a fair while yet, but in the long term a some point a similar resto will probably have to be done, think I will have a couple of years before I need to go that far.

Not had much to update but did improve the breather system where it re-enters into the intake pipe.
I did over hear Tim saying to the dwarf that its restrictive and can be done away with but as I've all ready had the pipe power coated I wasn't up for it being welded again so I improved the old system.
This is it half way through
http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt39/t5pete/20140718_153738_zps5cc8fc70.jpg
Its all bored out now so there are no restrictions and all smooth unlike the ledge all the system had to sit on first no wonder they make up easily.

we're only a few weeks away from hibernation time for the Gul, will give her a quick claying, and good polish and wax before she goes away for the winter, if I'm lucky the damage should be fixed before she goes away, If not it can wait till next year and get her sorted in april ready for the summer, I am considering putting the air-con back into this car as I have all the parts from my green one and the v70 I broke, I'll just pick the best bits, shot blast them and paint them up as it's been a tad warm riding around in her just lately.

Its here collected her this morning then managed to get a little time this afternoon to do some work jobs done so far are rear liners fitted and new wheels fitted on rear both rear doors fully built and wired up passenger half way there, fitted new selector cables boot internals bolts back together but the lock has decided to give up to borrowed another one looks like ill have to keep the boot key in the car just in case.
Really impressed with the work he said to take it back as there are bits still left to be buffed up which would be easier when its all together and if it they come out like the rest of whats been done ill be more than happy.

That's the way I'm going with the black trim, as in away from grey.

Liking the brakes, I've got big rear brakes to go on as well, but still keeping the original look.

Shame you can't get any of the original ohlins suspension with remove damping adjustment

Yep black and yellow looks so much better than grey and yellow im really happy I managed to drop on the original and genuine upgrade 320mm brakes as even the 302's can look lost behind 17's.
Ide love to get a set of ohlins to finish the car off I truly don't know which way to go at the moment the suspension is all standard and as its more of a weekend car just to enjoy with the odd drag race I might just keep with the original suspension or at least the R springs and just get a good quality set of dampeners

Pete, I would forget about ohlins suspension, I looked into it in depth a while ago, even calling them direct as the supply our jaguar track cars and it was in the thousands, lots of them too, there are a few original sets floating about in Sweden but they are like rocking horse poo and reluctant to sell to anyone outside Sweden. Good luck

The Ohlins struts and shocks are great, but suspension technology has evolved a bit since they were new and, while they arent as kool, there are a lot of newer 'better' options available.
That said, I picked up Ohlins fronts locally from a wrecker and spent quite a lot of time trying to source parts before rebuilding them. I do understand the appeal.

piece of flat glass, brush some clear gel coat (you could probably get away with just using resin) two or tree layers of CF and that should do it.
