View Full Version : Boost...!?

Currently I'm running a temp fitted boost gauge as I'm waiting for my posh pod from the states. As I said in previous posts I've had boost problems. I've fitted a forge actuator & currently have it set to a peak of 17 & levels down to 9psi. I set it safe as I was a bit cautious but now I'm used to it I keep getting goaded by a few mates to turn the boost up. :)
What would be the safe level for a standard map & would I need a boost controller? I'm thinking of using an electronic one as that's what I'm used to with my last turbo car. I have an 18t, slicone boost hoses & samco reinforced vacuum hose. I've googled but I get a range of answers. My mate reckons a bar will be sound.
Thanks for the help amigo's.

around 15psi, why are you using a forge actuator? could be your problem with dropping so much boost

I'm running the yellow spring which was recommended for that approx boost level.
When I asked about actuators no one said avoid forge. I had the boost problems with my old oe actuator. It was goosed. Now I'm happy with performance I felt I could wind it in a bit. I set it about the same length as the old but a bit longer incase it had been wound in. I got told 10 was standard but left it at 9 to keep it safe & check nothing else went wrong. Lol

I really do think a dump valve will be going on, I can always turn it off if I want chatter. Lol
Would you recommend forge Frankie? I don't want it too loud really. I already have an outlet but eventually I'll have it on my rip pipe.

100% twin piston don't be tempted to fit anything else,i had a normal single piston on mine and it leaks all over the gaff!! but now ive got nothing but I like the chatter noise ;)

I think next mod once i get my awd will be a cossy group a filter & some more silicone to fit it. I can hear mine chatter but only in low gears.
