Hi Guys.
I have noticed a few people talking about the DIM and throttle sensor on the early phase 2 cars and it can cost up to £750 each to fix. I just wondered what these problems are and how easy are they are to fix.
I understand the DIM is the thing on the dash that tells you MPG, Miles left on your tank. But if this breaks I think I can live without knowing my MPG. Or is it not as simple as that.
I am getting worried as my 2000 plate T5 hasn't had a new DIM.

The DIMM is the complete unit with speedo rev counter etc. There is someone who can repair them for a lot cheaper than a replacement unit.

I was looking at the later 2004 onwards with the silver rings around the dials. Are they a straight swap?

You can't swap from one car to another, that's why they are so expensive.

You can recode a second hand one but stealers don't like doing it.

Dim failure is a slow process so you'll get plenty of warning and the dials are always the last thing to go.

Not all DIMs fail so you might be ok.
