Give Independent Vehicle Services in Timperely (volvo specialists) a try if your near there? I went the other day with my C70 and he kindly helped me with a fault code problem. I haven't had any other experience from him yet though.

I'd be tempted to go for Independant in Altrincham, the owner is an ex volvo main stealer mechanic, who really knows his stuff and is a straight talker.

I first dropped in at his place, without an appontment some time ago, hoping that he could help me make sense of the multitude of warning lights that kept popping up on a regular basis.

Even though it was pi@@ing down outside ( all his bays were full) he spent a good while trying to sort it out, at no charge I might add.

My only experience of Hallmark was a problem with what turned out to be the knock sensors. They had the car for ages and changed loads of other things at my expense, before I took it elsewhere for the job to be done properly.

Regards to all.

You may want to read the thread about throttle modules in the main forum section.

It may just apply to you ;)

Eventually took car to stratstone stockport, only to be told I had been mis-informed regarding throttle body. Fault was actually MAF sensor ! Let them fix it at cost of £377. Car back to her best, power back, smooth tick-over ,good starter ! Fell back in love ! Would like to have the name of the independant in Alty though for future problems ! many thanks. Dan

Hi all,

If you take your car to Independant Vehicle Services, do yourself a big favour and get the owner Dave to note any existing damage, or more importantly lack of damage to your car, before you leave it.

I sincerely wish I had.

The reason I say this is that I have just picked mine up after it had had some mechanical work done and it is now sporting a f~@k off scratch along the full length of the bonnet, which Dave the owner, said had nothing to do with him or his staff.

I know catergorically that it was not there when I dropped it off because I cleaned the car inside and out before I took it to them, so they wouldn't have to work on a dirty car.

The fact that he felt obliged to mention it as we were walking over to it, to inspect the work that he had done, also spoke volumnes.

I am completely p#ssed off because I went out of my way to take the car to him after he came recommended and more importantly because there is sweet FA I can do and I feel he is taking the pi##.

Going for a beer !!!!!!

Regards to all.
