Hi there,

I understand that if you fit after market exhaust, induction kit with a good remap you can get 270- 280 bhp.
What other! mods would you have to do to a 850 t5 to achieve over 300bhp

Cheers

Steve

Bigger turbo 18or 19t and a custom map.

Yup, thats about right, to get any more you are looking at serious mods to the engine.

Are the mentioned turbos a direct fit?

Yeap :)

Me7 turbos have slightly different coolant/oil line positions on them, but can easily be adjusted to fit non-me7 cars. Also you might need a different downpipe. I also recommend changing to a s60r exhaust manifold while your swopping turbos, just easy to do while you've got the turbo off anyway

Or just fit a S60R turbo with it`s manifold :)

I'm looking at an 18T for my 850 T5 with blue, or possibly green, injectors.

Who offers the custom maps? Also, is the S60 R manifold a direct fit if using the 18T?

Many thanks

S60R manifold is a straight fit but an S60R turbo is not the best and needs some piping done but 18t or 19t is a better option.Depending on where u r there r different good remap companies everywhere. You can get a pre mapped ecu from ARD for your mods.

Cheers for input :) .

So am I right in saying that with S60R exhaust manifold with 18t, custom exhaust, air filter, remap 300bhp is possible

Is it also worth while upgrading the injectors and intercooler or can these parts handle the power hike?

Thanks

Steve

Injectors would be a wise choice - Blues... or if you go for a forged engine, custom i/c etc - go green injectors and custom map that lot ;)

Without a Turbo change you'll only be looking at 250 after a remap not 280

The only difference between blues and whites is 4 ohms resistance - and blues look nicer ;)

My 850R has had a few bolt on/replacement parts added over the last 12 months,

18T turbo
S60R manifold
Blue injectors
3" TB
Performance airfilter
Full TME exhaust, + my new 3" downpipe with race cat (when i get it this week)
HLM 304 ECU, but this will be replaced will a full custom map this weekend

Hopefully with all this i will see 300BHP or as close to it as possible.
but its torque which i really want as i seem to have lost ground on the 1/4 mile in the middle so extra grunt is needed.

Hope your plans go well... and that you have deep pockets to keep ontop of things!!

The ohmage will affect there reaction times, so both might do be same job but won't open as quickly when the ecu askes it too

Depends what dyno you use at the end of the day, i know of another car that had 450bhp but only 310whp, all dyno's should be used for is a bench mark then use the same one everytime you mod your car you know where you stand.

Can't use hub dyno (unless it does both sides) - I think my LSD would have an issue. Its already wrecked a disk skimmer.

They do both sides, too much waiting around to change cars

What exhaust is needed to fit a 19t on an 850? When you say you have to modify the pipes to the turbo, in what way?

you can just use the exhaust you already have, or alternately get an angled downpipe, you dont have to modify anything for a 19t fitment

Your better off fitting a 3" aftermarket while your doing the job, & a s60r exhaust manifold (just saves messing under there twice). If you get the turbo off the same pre-ME7 as ur car it will be fine, but when they swopped to ME7 the coolant & oil pipes are in a slightly different place so need adjusting a bit

Wobbly Dave
Wednesday 5th June 2013, 14:25
Off the shelf - Standard 19T IIRC comes with a turbine housing with an angle flange. 850s will have straight flange downpipes - so you need to change one of these pieces & given that you'd want a higher flow D/P - that is often the one that is also changed.

that is correct but to save money you can just split the turbo and use the straight flange as i did on my v70r

When you say adjusting do you mean buying new pipes or just bending them abit?

Does anyone know of a 19t for sale?

just bending a bit, but they are quite solid & i think the chap i know had to take them off & take them to a machine to get it done
