I have a 1998 V70 T5 auto. I ran it last week to see what sort of MPG i would get. Some long runs and some short.
Turns out i'm getting 22mpg:(

Interested to know what sort of figures yo guys are getting.

Cheers Craig.

Oh dear :)

My 1632Kg lump manages an average of 25 round town and 39 on a run. 37@75mph :)

Manual box tho, and reconditioned injectors (they make a big difference).

Shouldn't the auto's motorway mpg be really high, bringing the average up?

Not worried about the mpg as I only drive the car about 6 miles a week. Was just wondering what everyone else got.

I get 20mpg in my 2.5T (lpt lump) using Tesco around town, usually 26mpg using V power

On a run last week to pick up some wheels i was getting 41mpg at 55mph, using V Power which I was impressed with. But I can only manage to get 33/34mpg using Tesco fuel

I lot of peeps dont work it out accurately tbh, fill the tank go for a drive then refil again to get the correct mpg. longer the more acurate.

note how many ltrs of fuel divide that by Gal, then divide the miles by how many Gal you have used.

My recent trip to Sparkford 430 mile round trip mine achieved 24 mpg on the way down there, 32mpg on the way back, That was with a clogged Air filter. (dont ask) long story lol

I think my 1998 auto was getting low 20s short journeys, low 30s on a run........well, thats what the computer said lol

I was getting approx 28mpg on my P2 T5 geartronic but since ive had it serviced (just an oil and filter) and had 2 new front tyres and the alignment sorted. I can only manage about 25mpgs, weird or what?!

I was under the impression that the final gear on the auto is pretty long - giving low revs at motorway speeds. My LK sits at about 2300rpm at 70mph - giving me 37mpg or so.

over the past week I have averaged 22mpg on my auto R, this has been around town and roughly 10-15 miles a day.

I'm pretty sure mine would rev higher than that at 70mph, around 2500rpm i think. A fair bit higher than my current auto, which sits barely above 2000rpm@70mph.

Im not using any fuel computer, but working out by the miles travelled and how much fuel i put in until the light comes on steady. I have a HLM remapped 2.5/2.4T (same engine) LPT C70 manual, and i always get mid to high 30's avarage, but dont really do much/any town driving. I find my C70 quite economical for the power it has, im well pleased with MPG compaired to my previous 850's. C70 is also better on fuel than the 2.0 Honda Accord which i just sold, and much quicker and more comfy.

getting 49 mpg consistantly out the 2.5 tdi, wish i could afford to run a petrol but 20k miles per year means its all diesel for me

Managed just over 30mpg today in my manual V70 R. 250 miles of mainly decent driving, and a clean cone filter. Filled her right upto the neck this afternoon to arrive at this fig rather than the OBC which is on 29.2, but not reset for over 6 months.

27.5 average on long journeys and around the village too (ooar!). That is an 1997 S70 auto tho.

I got almost 31 mpg on a trip to Loch Ness in a loaded up 1999 V70R phase 2 so AWD/auto. 4th gear is high - just over 2400 for 70 mph......so geared for almost 180 mph at 6000 revs!

Both our V70r and T5-r are about 21-24mpg on daily duties (hilly around us) and 30's on a decent run if we're careful

Wellcome back Ian, hope you had a good holiday, did you take the car ?
