Morning guys!

Just a quick hello!!

I picked up a 1997 S70 SE T5 auto on Monday and so far loving it! It turned to the age of 16 years old yesterday!

Running on 126k miles with around 95% history with it, belt changed at 51k (will look at doing this again soon I think), full PCV system replaced at 110k in nov 2011. New oil, transmission fluid, engine top mount etc....

Body works not to bad, only one panel with a small dent, a couple of corners have been touched up on the bumpers and the spoiler needs painting. Drivers windo control panel doesn't open the rear windows, hopefully an easy fix as the work fine from the rear.

I need to get two front tyres but have realised that the car should be running 205/50/16's but it currently has 205/55/16's all round. Is there any issues running a slightly larger profile? As there seems to be quite a price difference in the two sizes!

I can only find two after market parts on the car (apart from the head unit) being an auto gauge boost gauge on the A pillar and a stupid looking 4" jap back box, granted though it is utterly silent!

Anyway, a few picks once I got it home.... Going to give a clean over at the weekend, weather permitting!!

Excuse the iPhone pic quality....

Hello and welcome, I just recently picked up a similar car for spares has faulty MAF but really it is too good to break so maybe will get it sorted soon as funds allow. Don't think you need to worry about the tyre size difference so long as each axle pair are the same it does not matter or affect the gearing noticeably.

This one also had the MAF done at 110k.

I did notice a lack of S70's when I have been looking about the forum the last few days.

Anyone local to Glasgow? Didn't see a lot of Scottish meets in the forums.

Welcome :)
Would have thought the tyres profile wouldn't make "that" much difference, but if anything it'll mean the speedo's reading a tad low.

A few questions for the brains on the forum!!

What turbo do these early S70's run?
I have read some bits about tightening the actuator? What's involved? Is it necessary?
Going with the boot gauge, it hits between 9-10 psi, is this right?
What should the tyre pressures be?
Is the obd2 port the only way to reset the service light?
Are the door speakers easily accessible? This one is supposed to have Bose speakers and I want to check as I noticed the speakers on the shelf look like standard Volvo affair, 97w15 8 ohms?

Sorry for the load of questions, I'm new to volvos!!

For anyone interested, previous history....

1995 N - Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Monza (1st car)
1973 L - VW 1303 Bettle
1994 M - Range Rover 3.9 V8
1978 T - Mini Clubman (1.275 MG metro engined)
1993 K - Toyota MR2 2.0 Gt-i16
1993 K - Toyota MR2 2.0 Turbo GTS
2000 V - Peugeot 1.6 106 Gti
2003 53 - Saab 93 2.0t convertable
2010 10 - Smart Fortwo 84 Urbanstyle Ltd Ed
Now - 1997 P - Volvo S70 2.3 SE T5

There has been a few other runners in there but not worth mentioning! lol.

In order to get at the speakers you'll have to take the door card off I'm afraid..
