Secondary Air Injection System

My '97 850 (base model) refused to start one day (totally out of the blue), I got error code P0410 (secondary air injection fault), I replaced the air pump this afternoon but am still having no joy in starting the car. Can anyone think of anything I might be missing? Any help would be REALLY appreciated, as I'm totally stuffed without my pride and joy!!!!

Doubt it would be the air pump, my understanding of these is that it simply pumps air into the exhaust system on initial start to artificially lower the cold start emissions, the pump shuts off after a minute or so, we used to get these a lot on old Vauxhalls and Audi's, most of the time the pump rivets had broken so the pump was in two halves or the pump didn't work at all, never caused any starting issues though.
